Our Approach to Safety

At REALITY, you can break free from the constraints of the real world to become “whoever you want” and express yourself in several ways. 
We have users who actively pursue their dreams and objectives, users who support those giving their best in their activities, users who just want to enjoy a relaxed REALITY lifestyle, and many other forms of becoming whoever you want. 

In order to make REALITY a place where many people can connect and engage in a variety of activities, we believe that it is necessary to make REALITY a safe environment for the community to use. We have been working on various initiatives such as strengthening audits and developing functions to make REALITY safer. On the other hand, we have not disclosed to you our specific efforts and the number of detections to date.

To ensure that everyone can enjoy REALITY with peace of mind, we have decided to launch a Transparency Report this month to disclose the number of issues that have been addressed, our efforts to improve safety, problems reported by users, and our policy for resolving these issues. The Transparency Report will be updated monthly.

Number of Cases Handled - August 2023

In August, in addition to being the summer vacation season, there was also a lot of excitement due to the 5th-anniversary event. As a result, both the number of reports and penalties increased significantly compared to the previous month.

The most significant factor contributing to this increase was misconduct related to events, accounting for approximately 35% of the total penalties and around 85% of temporary account suspensions.

Furthermore, restrictions on users under the age of 13 continued to increase, with an additional 66 cases compared to the previous month.

Efforts in August 2023

Response to Misconduct Related to Events

In August, there was a significant increase in event-related misconduct, primarily centered around 'gifting with multiple accounts.’ Consequently, the number of accounts facing suspension measures also saw a substantial rise.

While we are taking strict measures to detect and address event-related misconduct, we are aware that there may be violation patterns beyond the ones currently being addressed.
However, implementing restrictions across the board abruptly with stringent criteria carries the risk of unintended consequences, such as limiting accounts that are not engaged in any violation activities. Therefore, we plan to implement the diversification of violation detection patterns and regulatory enhancements gradually and consistently.

In cases of event-related misconduct, we often observe the use of secondary or disposable accounts that do not have a usage history. However, if it is confirmed that these accounts belong to the same user, all accounts associated with that user, including the main account used, will be subject to usage restrictions.

Engaging in violations with a casual attitude, thinking that it's okay because they are secondary or disposable accounts, can lead to the loss of accounts that users have cherished for many years.

Please review the terms of use and event guidelines, and we kindly ask that you refrain from engaging in activities that violate our policies.

Preparations for the Renovation of the Reporting Function

We are currently preparing for the renovation of our reporting feature. After the renovation, users will be able to select new reporting reasons such as 'harassment,' 'sexual content or behavior,' 'bullying, defamation, or discrimination,' and the additional details provided in reports will become optional.

Furthermore, we plan to publish a reporting guide page to assist all users in making effective reports. By reporting in accordance with the guidelines provided, the moderation team will be able to more efficiently identify violations.

As of now, we are planning for the renovation to be released around late September. Please wait a little longer for the official release.
