Transparency Report - September 2023

Our Approach to Safety

At REALITY, you can break free from the constraints of the real world to become “whoever you want” and express yourself in several ways.
We have users who actively pursue their dreams and objectives, users who support those giving their best in their activities, users who just want to enjoy a relaxed REALITY lifestyle, and many other forms of becoming whoever you want.

To make REALITY a place where many people can connect and engage in a variety of activities, we believe that it is necessary to make REALITY a safe environment for the community to use. We have been working on various initiatives such as strengthening audits and developing functions to make REALITY safer. On the other hand, we have not disclosed to you our specific efforts and the number of detections to date.

To ensure that everyone can enjoy REALITY with peace of mind, we have decided to launch a Transparency Report this month to disclose the number of issues that have been addressed, our efforts to improve safety, problems reported by users, and our policy for resolving these issues. The Transparency Report will be updated monthly.

Number of Cases Handled - September 2023

In September, with the end of the summer vacation season and a slight reduction in event misconduct, the number of reports and penalties significantly decreased compared to the previous month. However, on the other hand, there has been an increase in cases where users who had previously received account suspensions engaged in repeated violations with new accounts, resulting in a consistent number of permanent usage restrictions.

  • Reports Made: 22,665

  • Number of Penalties Enforced: 6,612

  • Number of Temporary Restrictions: 2,315

  • Number of Permanent Restrictions: 1,860

  • Restrictions on use by users under 13 years of age: 489

※Multiple cases where the REALITY Team might have detected and handled violations are also included.

Report Feature Renewal

As mentioned in the report from the previous month, we conducted a renewal of the report feature on September 25th.

While we have received mostly positive feedback, we also want to address some concerns related to the new reporting feature.

Question:
Some users have found it easier to report compared to before, but are there concerns about this being abused, leading to innocent users receiving a high volume of reports and usage restrictions?

Answer:
Currently, we do not have such measures in place. As stated in the reporting guide page, penalties for violations of the terms of use are only imposed when the operational team confirms the actual violation of the terms of use. Regardless of the volume of reports, penalties will not be imposed unless actual violations of the terms of use are confirmed. So please be assured that there won't be penalties without proper verification of violations.

Furthermore, it's important to note that there are cases where the same user is reported multiple times or where multiple users collaborate to report the same incident. Even if there are a high number of reports for a single violation, it does not increase the likelihood of penalties or make the penalties more severe.

In our reporting guide, you will find information not only on "how to report" but also on "effective reporting tips" and "commonly seen ineffective reports." We encourage you to read through these sections for a better understanding of how to report effectively.
