4月初旬に訪れた「はままつフラワーパーク」では50万本のチューリップが、園内各地に植えられていて、1,300本の桜とのツーショットは見応えがあった。
 
私の住まいの近隣でも30,000本のチューリップが植えられていて、「チューリップ祭り」が4月7日に終了したところだ。
 
5月には、オランダのキューケンホフ公園に行く予定だ。東京ドーム約8個分の広さの公園内には、チューリップを中心に、ヒヤシンス、スイセンなど約700万もの春の球根花が咲くという。
 
一昨日の新聞で、チューリップの球根の生産が盛んな豊岡市で、チューリップ祭りが21日まで開催されているとあった。30年以上も続く「たんとうチューリップまつり」会場の「たんとう花公園」には、300品種のチューリップ約100万本が咲き誇っているそうだ、さらに、約10万本のチューリップで作られた「ぺこちゃん」のフラワアートもあると、写真まで掲載されていた。
 
この「ぺこちゃん」のフラワアートの写真が見事だったので、夫にも見せた。夫は、「オランダのチューリップ畑では君の顔が作られているかもね」などとありもしないことを言う。時々あるどう対応していいかわからないジョークだ。ハハッと一応笑っておいた。
 
夫はさらに「僕は君のチューリップをいつも見られるけどね」と言った。

Tulips
 
At "Hamamatsu Flower Park," which I visited in early April, there were 500,000 tulips planted throughout the park, creating impressive scenes alongside 1,300 cherry blossom trees.
 
Even in my neighborhood, 30,000 tulips were planted, and the "Tulip Festival" just ended on April 7th.
 
In May, I'm planning to visit Keukenhof Park in the Netherlands. In this park, spanning the equivalent of about eight Tokyo Domes, approximately 7 million spring bulbs, mainly tulips along with hyacinths, and daffodils, are supposed to bloom.
 
In yesterday's newspaper, I read about a Tulip Festival being held until the 21st in Toyooka City, known for its active tulip bulb production. At the "Tanto Flower Park," the venue for the "Tanto Tulip Festival," which has been ongoing for over 30 years, it's reported that around 1 million tulips of 300 varieties are in full bloom. Additionally, there's a flower art piece of "Peko-chan" made from around 100,000 tulips, with its photo.
 
 
Since I was so impressed by this well-done "Peko-chan" flower art that I showed it to my husband. He joked, "Maybe your face will be made in the tulip fields of the Netherlands." It's one of those jokes where I'm not sure how to respond. I just chuckled
 
My husband added, "I can always see your tulips though…"
