Human commonalities

Ernest Boyer wrote, in his work "The Educated Person":

What is an educated person? What should schools be teaching to students?
In searching for answers to these questions, we must consider first not the curriculum, but the human condition. (…) We might organize the curriculum not on the basis of disciplines or departments, but on the basis of "core commonalities." By core commonalities, I mean universal experiences that make us human, experiences shared by all cultures on the planet.

Thus he suggested the themes "The Life Cycle", "Language", "The Arts", "Time and Space", "Groups and Institutions", "(Affirming Dignity of) Work", "Natural World", and "Search for Meaning"

Needless to say this has been adapted to International Baccalaureate (PYP)'s UOIs. I think it makes sense to adapt this as a framework to organize our courses.
