　As we know, a shared experience is greater than one experienced alone, and doing things for others raises one’s mood. It is a truism because it is true. Let’s collaborate on our passions! Let’s Harmo-Pash.

　私の朝は、現代作曲家のカプースチンのピアノからはじまる。盲目のピアニスト辻井伸行さんが、コンサートでカプースチンの『8つの演奏会用エチュードOP.40』を全身全霊で弾く姿に感動したからだ。

　My mornings now begin with the piano of the contemporary composer Kapustin. This is because I was moved by the blind pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii playing Kapustin's 8 Concert Etudes, OP.40 with all his might at his concerts.

　辻井さんは、何度か鍵盤を拭いていた。それほど高速な曲だったのだ。なのにアンコールでは、さらに４曲も弾いた。４曲目の出だしの「Eb」の３音で、会場はどよめいた。超絶技巧の『ラ・カンパネラ』である。観客の声援が、さらに彼の演奏を後押しし、光のような速度でラ・カンパネラを弾き終えた。辻井さんは、満面の笑みである。人を喜ばせることが、本当に好きな方なのだ。彼は盲目だから、ピアノを弾くときの顔の表情などお構いなしに、音を出すために身体を使う。シンプルに我々に問いかけてくるような音を出す。

　Mr. Tsujii wiped the keys several times. It was such a fast song. And yet, for the encore, he played four more songs. The three notes of "E flat" at the start of the last piece caused the audience to gasp. It was the superb ”La Campanella”. The audience's cheers further encouraged him to play and he finished Campanella with lightning speed. Mr. Tsujii was all smiles. He seems to like to make people happy. He is blind, so he uses his body to produce sound, without regard to his expressive face when he plays the piano. He creates sounds that ask us questions.

　はやく「ブラボー禁止」を解除してほしい。目が見えない辻井さんに、我々がスタンディングオベーションで拍手をしていることは届いただろうか？　映画のようなエンドロールだった！「なんだか、体温あがったね」と、出口付近でつぶやく人がいた。私もだ。まるで、ロックのコンサートの後のようだ。

　I hope the "Bravo" ban will be lifted soon. Did Mr. Tsujii, who is blind, receive our standing ovation for his applause?　It was a cinematic end roll! Someone mumbled near the exit: "It kind of raised my body temperature”. So did it to mine. It was like after a rock concert.

　先週から突然、私は姪の家庭教師になった。

「集中して勉強する教科を決めたら？」と私が言ったとき、姪は「理科にしようかな」と言ったので、「決まってよかったね」とLINEした。

　しかしそれから「やっぱり、英語にすることにした！」と、しばらくしてLINEがきた。その日から、姪は自分が取り組みたいワークブックを買い、取り組み始めたら英語にはまったらしい。これまであまり勉強に打ち込んでいなかったから、巻き返しを図っていて、授業でやっている単元も通り越したらしい。人間は変わるんだなと、私も影響を受けた。

　Last week I suddenly became my niece's tutor.

　I said, "Why don't you decide on a subject to focus on?" When I said this, my niece said, "I think I'll focus on science," and I sent a LINE, "I'm glad you've decided.

And after a while, I got a LINE from her, "I decided to study English, after all!" From that day on, she bought a workbook she wanted to work on, and when she started working on it, she was into English. She had not been very devoted to her studies so far, so she was trying to rewind and even went through the units she was doing at school. I was also affected by the fact that people change.

　だから、姪からの要請があれば、教えに行く。姪はアプリで勉強タイマーをセットし、スマホをしまう。そしてアプリに自分の勉強時間を投稿するそうだ。他の人の勉強時間も見えて、とても励みになるらしい。リアルな友達よりも便利だ。(笑)

　So, if my niece requests it, I make time to teach. My niece sets a study timer on the app and puts her iPhone away. She then posts her study time on the app. She says it's very encouraging to see other people's study time. It's more convenient than real friends.

　平日夕方のフードコートで、４時間、英語と数学の勉強に付き合った。私も中学英語、数学を復習したほうが、スムーズだろうと思い、YouTubeで中学英語、数学をマスターする動画を視聴した。記憶が蘇ってくるのが楽しい。素因数分解、連立方程式だって、もうできる。(笑)

　We spent four hours in the food court on a weekday evening studying English and math. I thought it would be smoother if I also reviewed junior high school English and math, so I watched videos on YouTube on how to master junior high school English and math. They are easier to understand than school teachers because they teach with their whole hearts and soul. By teaching them all together, they become organized and tidy in my brain files. It's fun to have the memories come back to me. I can already do prime factorization and simultaneous equations.

　そして、英語学習者である私にとっても新しい知識があり、目から鱗が落ちた。人に英語を教えるために、自分が復習することのベネフィットがすごい。そして姪だけでなく、私も何かスイッチが入ったようだ。自分のために、人のために、全身全霊で取り組む姿は、とにかく美しいのだ。

　And as an English learner, I also learned something new and eye-opening. The benefits of reviewing my own English to teach it to others are amazing. And not only for my niece but for me as well, something has flipped a switch. It's just beautiful to see people putting their whole hearts and soul into what they do for themselves and others.

今回は書いてみたいエピソードが２つでてきて、どちらにしようかな？と考えていたのですが、２つを繋げて書く方法を思いつきました。そして書きながら、「全身全霊」でつながってきたなと。そこで、タイトルをChatGPTに相談してみたところ、ChatGPTも２つの物語の共通点を見いだせたようで「情熱のハーモニー」というナイスなタイトルをつけてくれました。これには、英会話の先生も唸りました。(笑)
