Stanford e-JapanのエッセイをChatGPTと協力して仕上げる方法

こんにちは、Choimirai Schoolのサンミンです。

0  はじめに

Stanford e-Japanはスタンフォード大学が日本の高校生に提供しているオンラインのコースです。

参加するためにはいくつかの書類が必要で中には2本のエッセイも含まれています。今回のnoteではChatGPTと協力しエッセイを仕上げる方法について説明します。

1  二本のエッセイ

2本のエッセイのお題は、

Essay #1: How will participation in the e-Japan Program benefit you in terms of your future academic, personal, and/or career plans?
Essay #2: What unique background experiences or knowledge will you bring to the Stanford e-Japan Program?

2  Essay #1:背景知識

最初のお題は、

How will participation in the e-Japan Program benefit you in terms of your future academic, personal, and/or career plans?

ChatGPTと協力しエッセイを書くためにはまず、ChatGPTに必要な背景知識をシェアする必要があります。そのために聞いた質問が、

4  Essay #1: Second Draft

一発で満足のいくエッセイが出来上がるケースは少ないと思います。上記で書いてもらったエッセイも「in terms of …」が繰り返して使われていてどこか不自然がところがあります。ChatGPTがいいのが、問題を指摘すると素直に認め、直してくれるところです。書き直してもらったエッセイがこちら。First Draftより自然な感じに仕上がっていることがわかります。

ここでの手順も基本的には一本目のエッセイと一緒です。まずは、下記の指示でエッセイを書いてもらいます。

6  Essay #2: Second Draft

上述したようにSecond Draftでのポイントはより自分のバックグラウンドと知識をアピールできるエッセイに仕上げること。下記のプロンプトはそのために使った指示文です。

この指示に対し、ChatGPTはいくつかの事例をあげてくれます。

2つのエッセイで見たように全てをChatGPTに委ねることはできません。どのように指示を出すかなどいかに協力するかによって求めていたエッセイに仕上げることができます。
