"Leader"
"President"
"Captain"
What is your image of these words?
Trying to define these words is one of the most difficult things when you get the position of a leader.

Since I was in junior high school, what I have been doing was working in the team as a "vice president," so I use to work for being the bridge between teammate and the president. I thought the position really fit me because of my nature like loving to organize a team, communicate with people, and support them.

Summer 2023, eventually, I stepped out of my comfort zone by leaving the position with "vice," (←I really like that…, but…..)and started to work as a supervisor at a non-profit organization which is a community of Japanese students who study overseas universities, and teachers who support them.

I was not able to expect what kind of leader I will be, and I still thinking about that, but I realized the position is not bad.

This realization reminded my favorite quote by Jack Andraka which is "when the disease hit so close to home, I knew I needed to learn more."

Although facing to think the image of a leader is not a "disease," but it is an experience that has an impact like "disease." Thanks for entering an uncomfortable space that I never have explored, I found a lot of awareness of myself. For example, although I strongly believed I am a person who really fits the position with "vice," my personality doesn't mean I'm not a good fit for a leader…..(maybe?)

My friends and I sometimes talk about how did you get the courage to challenge new things. However, there are certain challenges you did without realizing.

Btw, if you are a DePauw student, class of 2027, especially from Kansai, the western part of Japan, please let me know!!!!

丸ビルのこの角度がもう美しい以外の何でもない

P.S. I visited Tokyo for the first time in more than a year. Last time, after seeing a packed train during rush hour, I swore I never gonna work in Tokyo and I still cannot stand being part of the packed train. But…… after seeing the wonderful night sight around Tokyo station, I realize that I kinda understand people who decide to work in Tokyo fascinated by this view.

Thank you for reading~!!See you later👋
