April 8: Postponing things I've got to do

I'm listening to some old tracks by The Strokes now. They were huge back in the early 2000s, but you don't hear much about them these days. Still, I've got a soft spot for their music, especially their early stuff. I think enjoying music goes beyond just the tunes themselves; it's about what it brings to your life. Whenever I hear someone claim that music is the most important thing, I can't help but think they're a bit too entitled and shallow.

But don't get me wrong, I'm a huge music fan myself. Sometimes I struggle with these conflicting feelings. When I look back at my younger years, I realize that music was my way of escaping reality. Now, though, I know I need to confront my present instead of dwelling on the past.

It reminds me of those lyrics from Badly Drawn Boy: "Dwelling on the memories is such a waste of energy. It's simple when you see it in front of you, on walls, in bedrooms.
