Every year, scientists all over the world make new discoveries. Some people claim, however, that most of the scientific achievements are valueless, and that we should not squander limited resources on inventions and research that might be of no use. Yet, I would like to argue that every scientific contribution can serve as a stepping stone, no matter how small it may seem.
