Situation in Ukraine
It has been 719 days since Russia invaded Kyiv.
First,
general things.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
Russian losses are
790 soldiers
10 tanks
21 armored combat vehicles
6 artillery guns
45 drones
1 cruise missile
8 other vehicles.
The entire front reported 98 ground battles in one day.
The situation in Avdiivka has become critical.
And the ratio of the number of losses of Ukrainian equipment to Russian equipment,
which can be visually confirmed,
is 1 to 3.2,
which is 3.2 times the number of losses on the Russian side compared to the Ukrainian side.
The losses on the Russian side are mostly civilian vans and military trucks,
and the Russians are actively sending infantry to the front in Avdiivka.
On the Ukrainian side,
tanks are a bit more prominent.
Here is a short news report on the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use YouTube's chapter feature to watch it if you wish.
1.
The recent speech by former President Trump was notable for his statement that he would not oppose Russia attacking a NATO member,
but on the contrary would recommend that Russia attack it,
and then he also said something about financial support for Ukraine.
Candidate Trump,
who is virtually alone in the race for the Republican nomination,
said at a campaign rally in South Carolina that he opposed a funding bill for Ukraine and that "I will settle the war.
He also responded that he would "tell Russia to do whatever they want" to countries that do not spend enough on defense.
In response,
White House Press Secretary Bates said that this was "appalling and unfounded" and that "encouraging aggression by a murderous regime poses a direct threat to U.S.
security.
Second.
The New York Times compiled an assessment of the war situation in Ukraine by Western and U.S.
officials.
It warned that without U.S.
support,
Ukraine will find it difficult to mount a localized counterattack by next month,
that it will be unable to repel a Russian attack by early summer,
and that a "chain reaction collapse" could occur later this year.
Third.
The German newspaper Welt meanwhile predicted that the German government's worst-case scenario for the collapse of Ukraine would be 10 million refugees,
most of them in Western Europe,
especially Germany,
and a German Interior Ministry official interviewed said,
"I don't want to predict more than that.
Ukraine's population is roughly 50 million,
but according to the UN refugee agency,
6 million people have already fled Ukraine since the Russian invasion of Kyiv,
and millions more have taken refuge in the relative safety of the country.
Kiesewetter,
a German CDU politician and expert on refugee issues,
said,
"If we,
the EU,
are not able to significantly increase our support for Ukraine,
the war will spread to NATO and we will not have 10 million refugees.
Now,
here is the war situation in each region.
I will tell you where the war situation is changing.
Northeast: Luhansk region
Eastern part,
towards Bakhmut
The following is a report on the war situation from Halkiu and Kupyansk to the Svatove-Kreminna line,
and from the Siversk area to Bakhmut.
In this area the Russians attacked 6 times,
mainly at Terny and Bilohorivka,
and 14 times in the direction of Bakhmut.
Kupyansk area
In Novovodiane,
north of Makiyka,
positional video footage shows Ukrainian troops advancing toward the Zhelebets River,
winning a positional battle and forcing the Russians to retreat.
This was revealed as Russian forces counterattacked with artillery fire and drones.
We have updated the battle map to show this area as partially retaken by Ukrainian forces from Russian-occupied territory.
The map shown is from the Russian side and shows the vicinity of the battle map.
The area is approximately 1.3 square kilometers.
Svatove-Kreminna line
The Russians advanced their armored units towards Terny and Yampolivka,
but they were destroyed by mines and artillery fire from the Ukrainian army.
What we are showing you is the Ukrainian side,
which shows Russian armored vehicles advancing in the same place east of Yampolivka as on February 5th.
There is no change in the battle map.
Elsewhere,
in the direction of Sinkivka and Bakhmut,
the Russian attack was repelled by Ukrainian forces,
and there was no information about any change in the battle map.
South-east Donetsk region.
The weather in Avdiivka is rainy.
The minimum temperature is 6 degrees Celsius and the maximum is 8 degrees Celsius.
Today's weather forecast is cloudy.
Here is an update on the war situation in the direction of Avdiivka,
Marinka and Vuhledar.
Mayorsk area
At the substation east of Niuyork,
which we reported on recently,
we reported in our video the day before yesterday that the Ukrainian army had hoisted a flag on a steel tower,
The Russians,
as expected,
came for that flag and occupied it,
Ukrainian troops are using drones to reduce Russian forces.
We have updated the battle map of this area from contested to occupied by the Russians.
Avdiivka area
The Russians have carried out more than 30 attacks in this area.
The situation in Avdiivka is becoming critical for the Ukrainian forces,
as the Russians are making small advances amidst a shortage of artillery ammunition.
1.
In the residential area from east to southeast of the coal plant,
which is the biggest point of contention,
There appears to be no video release from the Ukrainian side,
so we can only synthesize multiple pieces of information,
but Russian forces are advancing slightly.
In addition to the assault,
the Russians are trying to secure their advance by bringing in infantry followed by armored vehicles.
The battle map shows that the Russians have crossed the railroad south of the coal plant,
which was a defensive line for the Ukrainian army,
and have begun to occupy residential areas east of the bus depot.
Some of them have also infiltrated the village south of the bus depot and,
after bombing it,
appear to have reached a point 300 meters from the industrial road that serves as a supply line for Avdiivka.
Russian forces are now advancing around the bus depot,
making things difficult for the Ukrainians.
The battle map has been updated to show the area of Russian occupation from the contested area.
2.
Russian forces have also launched attacks in residential areas to the east of the area,
and Ukrainian forces are blocking their advance,
but they are unable to respond on all axes of attack,
allowing Russian forces to advance on a front where they do not have sufficient troops.
We have determined that the Russians have advanced east of the garden shop and have updated the battle map from disputed territory to Russian-occupied territory at this location.
3.
In the residential area leading from the Tsarskaokhota restaurant,
Ukrainian forces are blocking the Russian advance,
but the Russians have changed the direction of attack to the west,
entering the residential area along T0505 and launching an attack.
This was an unexpected attack for the Ukrainian forces,
and the Russians have established a base in part of the residential area.
We have partially updated the combat map of this area from Ukrainian-controlled to Russian-occupied.
Fourth.
Further west,
in Opitne,
the Russian attack that day caused the Ukrainian forces to retreat and advance one to two fields.
We have updated the combat map of the area from contested to Russian-occupied.
The area is about 0.5 square kilometers.
To draw a small map and explain,
from Opitne to Avdiivka,
there are no defensive lines or other major obstacles in the direction of Avdiivka,
just an expanse of fields,
This would create a small outcrop,
and Avdiivka would be threatened from the north and south,
further endangering the large outcrop to the east of the residential area.
Fourth.
In Pervomaiske,
the Russians entered the urban area and advanced on three axes of attack in an urban battle,
advancing about 700 meters.
The Ukrainian forces are retreating and reducing the strength of the Russian forces,
but it seems that they have not been able to stop the advance.
The battle map has been updated to show the area of Russian occupation from the disputed territory.
The Ukrainian army continues to face a difficult situation,
as the front line is merging with the axis of attack from Vodyane in the north.
Marinka sector
In this sector the Russians launched 35 attacks.
The focus was on the center of Novomihailivka and the area south of it,
In the city center,
repeated Russian attacks were repelled by Ukrainian forces,
On the southern outskirts,
west of Sorodke,
the Russians made a slight advance across the river,
updating the battle map from disputed territory to Russian-occupied territory in that area.
South,
Zaporizhia Province.
In this sector,
the Russians launched two attacks near Verbove and Robotyne,
which were repulsed by Ukrainian forces,
leaving the battle map unchanged.
Southern Kherson Province
In this sector,
the Russians conducted two attacks in Krinky,
but without success,
Conversely,
positional video footage shows that Ukrainian forces have expanded their bridgehead.
The Russian side is shown here attacking a Ukrainian military position with multiple rocket launchers.
The battle map has been updated to show Ukrainian forces retaking this area from Russian-occupied and disputed territory.
Miscellaneous
A Russian critic named Sergei Mardin appeared on a talk show on Russian state television and said,
"The Russian people are aggressors,
extremely evil and cruel people.
Russians do not feel remorse or guilt,
but it will come back one day in some form or another," and his remarks were cut off there.
Newsweek reported this because it is very rare for Russians to admit to being aggressors,
let alone their government and military.
Extra.
In other news,
the U.S.
Senate held a preliminary vote on a funding bill that includes aid for Ukraine,
and despite criticism from President Trump,
the Senate voted 67-27 in favor of the bill for a final vote.
The final vote is scheduled for Wednesday evening and will require 51 yes votes.
That's all for today.
Thank you for watching.
