Situation in Ukraine
It has been 789 days since Russia invaded Kyiv.
First,
a general matter.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
the Russian losses were 730 soldiers
7 tanks
8 armored combat vehicles
17 cannons
1 air defense system
5 drones
2 cruise missiles
35 other vehicles.
The entire front reported 115 ground battles in a single day.
And the ratio of the number of losses of Ukrainian equipment to Russian losses,
which can be visually confirmed,
is 1 to 4.9 compared to the number of losses on the Ukrainian side.
The losses on the Russian side are mostly infantry fighting vehicles and civilian trucks; conversely,
there is no particular trend on the Ukrainian side,
although there is information that a MiG 29 parked at the Dnipropetrovsk airfield was destroyed by Russian Iskander missiles.
This is a short news report about the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use YouTube's chapter feature to watch where you want.
1.
Mike Warner,
Chairman of the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee,
appeared on an NBC News interview program and stated that the House-passed Ukraine aid bill will be voted on by the Senate on the 23rd and then sent to President Biden for his signature.
He added that "aid will be sent to Ukraine by the end of the week" and that "the aid will include ATACMS (long-range surface-to-surface missiles).
Second.
The New York Times gave three reasons why Chairman Johnson,
who initially insisted that he would not support funding for Ukraine,
changed his mind.
The first was intelligence data showing that when congressional officials met at the White House,
a senior security official told them that "Ukraine is rapidly depleting its ammunition,
and that could have devastating consequences.
The second was increased political pressure: "Even some members of the Democratic and Republican parties were actively advocating support for Ukraine,
and I found myself in a difficult position.
Third,
when he met with President Zelensky,
he was shocked as a Christian at what he heard about the suffering of the Ukrainian people due to indiscriminate shelling by Russian troops.
The article goes on to say that despite criticism from the right wing of the Republican Party,
he ultimately changed his mind about how to help and worked hard to get the bill passed.
3.
Ukrainian Navy spokesman Pletenchuk reportedly attacked a valuable rescue ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet Komna.
He reported that the attack was successful and that the ship is unable to carry out its mission.
Another video shows something burning and smoke in the windy conditions.
Classified as a submarine rescue ship,
the Komna is the oldest warship in the Russian fleet,
having been commissioned in 1915,
served in two world wars,
and most recently investigated the site of the sinking of the cruiser Moscow.
Now,
here is the war situation in each region.
We will focus on the areas where the war situation has changed.
You can follow the changes with the date on the large full-screen display.
Northeast: Luhansk Region
Eastern Bakhmut
This section covers the war situation on the Svatove-Kreminna line,
from the area around Siversk to Bakhmut.
In this area,
the Russians attacked 12 times along the Svatove-Kreminna line and 28 times around Siversk and in the direction of Bakhmut.
Around Sibersk
1.
In Bilohorivka there is a ground battle south of the mine.
According to video footage with location information,
Ukrainian troops launched an attack south of the mine,
resulting in a ground battle.
A Ukrainian infantry unit can be seen advancing on motorcycles along the road at the foot of the mine,
while Russian troops open fire with cluster artillery shells.
The size of the unit is large for a reconnaissance unit,
and Russian intelligence claims that 70 Ukrainian troops have entered the forest and are attempting to retake it.
What we are showing you is from the Russian side,
and the location is shown on the map.
This area was occupied by Russian troops in late March and April,
but has been updated as disputed territory again.
2.
Ukrainian forces also launched a counter-attack on the Donetsk-Kurhansk border east of Verkhonokamyanske and won a battle for positions on the Luhansk oblast side east of the border.
The Russians were found to be attacking positions taken by thermobaric bombs.
The battle map was updated to show that Ukrainian forces had retaken this area from the contested territory.
ChasivYar area.
The Russian forces have been ordered to occupy this area by May 9,
and although the weather is good and it is time to launch a major offensive,
the momentum of the Russian offensive is slowing down.
Whether this is temporary or not,
they may be preparing their next offensive.
An officer of the Ukrainian National Guard informed us that the Russians are serious about occupying ChasivYar,
as they have sent their most organized units to the ChasivYar offensive and continue to make up for losses.
In it,
in Bohodanivka,
we can see that the Ukrainian army has advanced to this place,
because the Russian army is attacking the Ukrainian army with anti-tank missiles at the place indicated on the map.
What we are showing you is the situation just before the Russians spotted and attacked the Ukrainian military vehicle at the location indicated on the map.
Bohdanivka is already shown as occupied by the Russians in several places,
but the Russians are believed to have occupied the lowlands east of the central street of the town and do not appear to be fully occupied.
There is no change to the battle map.
No other information affecting the battle map was found in this area.
Southeast Donetsk region
The weather in Avdiivka is cloudy.
The minimum temperature is 7 degrees Celsius and the maximum is 18 degrees Celsius.
The weather forecast for today is hail.
As we reported yesterday,
there will be strong winds at times.
Here are the current conditions in Avdiivka,
Marinka and Vuhledar.
Avdiivka area
The Russians have attacked this area 32 times. The Russian forces are trying to maintain the pace of their attacks by constantly replacing their units,
but the changes in the situation are minimal.
According to information,
the Russian Central Army Corps operating in this area has 86,000 men,
but with only 280 tanks and 760 armored vehicles,
they have no choice but to repeat infantry attacks.
1.
There was no significant fighting in Novokalinove that day,
and the Russians prepared for their next offensive with air strikes and multiple rocket launches.
2.
In Ocheretiyne,
a combination of positional video and other information indicates that Russian forces have reoccupied the blue-roofed electrical substation and advanced about two city blocks east into the residential area south of the substation.
Russian forces have also conducted close air strikes against Ukrainian military positions in support of the Russian advance.
The map below shows the Russian side and the location indicated on the map.
The battle map shows that the disputed territory has expanded into this area.
Third.
In Berdych,
video footage of Russian tanks on fire at the location shown on the map confirms that this location is the front line,
and Russian forces have launched 10 multiple rocket attacks on the west side of the river in an attempt to contain Ukrainian troop movements.
Otherwise,
the battle map remains unchanged,
with the Ukrainian army repulsing the Russian attacks.
Marinka Sector
In this sector the Russians made 25 attacks between Heolyivka and Urozyne.
1.
In Novomihailivka,
the Russians raised an occupation flag in the center of the town.
On the other hand,
buildings on the western edge of the town and residential areas north of the fishing pond are believed to be controlled by Ukrainian forces and are not fully occupied.
We have updated the battle map to show this area as occupied by Russian forces from the disputed territory.
The Russian attack on Novomirovka began on January 3,
which means that Russian forces have occupied 90% of the urban area over a period of 100 days.
2.
In Urozyne,
Russian troops briefly entered the town,
but then Ukrainian troops pushed back,
and now there is a battle for the building shown on the map.
Russian soldiers have just jumped out of an armored vehicle and are trying to attach themselves to the building under Ukrainian artillery fire.
The image shown is from the Ukrainian side and shows the location indicated on the map.
There are no changes to the battle map,
but some of the arrows indicating the direction of the attack have been revised: BBBB
Rear Areas
Yesterday we reported that Ukrainian military drones attacked an oil tank in Smolensk,
near the Belarusian border,
but Ukrainian media reported that Ukrainian military officials say they also attacked three other substations in Russia.
The targets were energy infrastructure that supplies power to Russia's military-industrial complex,
and video footage shows something on fire.
The location is unknown,
but the Russian Defense Ministry claims to have shot down 50 drones in eight different areas,
including Belgorod,
Kaluga,
and Moscow.
South,
Zaporizhia province
Southern,
Kherson Province
In this sector,
the Russians attacked four times near Stalomaiorsk and Robotyne,
and three times near Krinky,
but were repulsed by the Ukrainian forces each time,
leaving the battle map unchanged.
That's all for today.
Thank you for watching.
