A: We are commemorating the day when everything changed. For the people of this region, and particularly, Christchurch, a day of acute sadness, a day of devastation and loss.

The city is slowly being rebuilt. But the many residents still waiting for the insurance claims to be settled. Each year more than 15,000 earthquakes are recorded in New Zealand, but only about 150 are large enough to be felt.
