マット

マット

　I guess it's not really far from here. It seems to be along 6th Avenue.
　Let's go. It takes about 5 minutes on foot, I think.
サラ

マット

　It's basically made from buckwheat flour and water.

　It was believed that raccoon dogs have been transforming into human beings or something in Japan since a long time ago.
マット

　日本では昔からたぬきは人や何かに化けると信じられていたんだって。

Matt
　Then, in Kansai's case, Udon is more popular than Soba,
and when they see the Soba which has the same ingredient as Kitsune Udon,
　they think that Tanuki transforms into Kitsune Udon to trick them. It's still Soba, though.
　So they call it Tanuki Soba.
マット
　それで、関西の場合は、うどんの方がそばより人気があって、
きつねうどんと同じ具がのっているそばを見たときに
　たぬきが彼らをだますためにきつねうどんに化けているんじゃないかって考えたらしい。まだそばのままなんだけどね。
　だからたぬきそばって言うんだって。

Sarah
　That makes sense, but Raccoon dogs couldn't perfectly transform into Udon.
