   長年の受験指導の結果、私はあることに気づいた。それは、賢い子たちは自由を大切にしていることだ。皆さんは「開成高校は自由な気風にあふれ」とか「京都大学は自由な学風が特徴で」といったフレーズを耳にしたことがないだろうか。

　偏差値が日本最高クラスの学校というのは、どこも「自由」で校則などの縛りもほとんど無い。それは、校則などで縛らなくても風紀が乱れないという絶対の信頼感が指導者側にあるだけではない。校則などでがんじがらめにすると、賢い生徒たちの才能の芽を摘んでしまうからなのだ。

　そして、賢い生徒たちは自由のない学校を避ける。学校側は賢い生徒に嫌われたら死活問題なので、生徒に可能な限り自由を提供する。

　わずらわしい人間関係を避けることは、現実的に不可能です。友人、教師、家族は自分を大切に思ってくれているのに邪険には扱えない。ただ、

「言うとおりに操れるから愛しているというのなら、愛してもらわなくて結構」

　と覚悟を決めなくては難関校の合格など覚束ない。

　After years of teaching examinations, I have noticed something. That is, smart students value freedom. You may have heard phrases such as "Kaisei High School is full of a free spirit" or "Kyoto University is characterized by a free academic culture.

　The schools with the highest deviation values in Japan are all "free" and have almost no school rules. This is not only because the leaders have absolute confidence that public morals will not be disturbed without school rules. This is because the school rules are not binding on the students, which would nip in the bud the talents of the smart students.

　And smart students avoid schools where they have no freedom. Schools provide as much freedom as possible to their students because it is a matter of life and death if the smart students do not like them.

　It is practically impossible to avoid troublesome relationships. Friends, teachers, and family care about you, but you can't treat them badly. It's just,
If they love you because you can manipulate them into doing what you say, then they don't need to love you.
　If they love you because they can manipulate you, then they don't need you to love them.
