「夢を照らす灯台」
 
　１０年前、私の小さな塾の片隅で一人の少女が夢を語った。
「私は医者になりたい」
　と。彼女の名は麻里。賢く、決意に満ちた瞳を持つ彼女は、私にとって忘れられない存在になった。麻里ちゃんは、家が裕福でない中、国立大学への道を歩むことを決心していた。
 
　中学時代は常にトップクラスの成績を保ち、高校では四日市高校「国際科」に進学。彼女の勉強への情熱は、私にも大きな影響を与えた。メールでの質問、授業での熱心さ、そして、その全てが塾の教材開発へと繋がった。
 
　しかし、麻里ちゃんの道は平坦ではなかった。クラブ活動を辞めた時は友人を失ったそうだ。勉強に専念する決断をした彼女は、家庭の経済的な困難にも立ち向かわなければならなかった。
「政策金融公庫と奨学金とうちのバイトで何とかする」
　という彼女の言葉は、私の心を打った。
 
　麻里ちゃんは、その後、国立大学「医学部」に現役合格し、大学院で学び、研究職に就いた。彼女の努力と塾での学びは、後に多くの生徒が京大医学部に合格する礎となった。今年で、私の塾からは京大「医学部」に６人目の合格者がでた。
 
　彼女の人生は、夢を追いかけそれを実現させた物語。そして、彼女が残した光は、未来を目指す多くの生徒たちを照らし続けている。麻里ちゃん、あなたは本当に日本の宝です。あなたのような人が、この世界にもっと多くいてほしい。
 
　あなたの物語は、私たち全員の心に永遠に残ります。夢を追いかける全ての人への灯台として。

A Lighthouse to Illuminate Dreams

　Ten years ago, in a corner of my small cram school, a girl told me her dream.
I want to be a doctor.
　I want to be a doctor. Her name was Mari. With her wise and determined eyes, she became an unforgettable person for me. Mari was determined to follow her family's path to a national university, despite the fact that her family was not well-off.

　In junior high school, she always kept her grades in the top class, and in high school, she went on to Yokkaichi High School "International Studies. Her passion for studying had a great influence on me. Her questions by e-mail, her enthusiasm in class, all led to the development of teaching materials for the cram school.

　However, Mari's path was not smooth. She lost friends when she quit her club activities. Her decision to focus on her studies also forced her to confront her family's financial difficulties.
She said, "I'll make do with the Japan Finance Corporation, a scholarship, and our part-time job."
　Her words struck a chord with me.

　Mari later passed the entrance exam to the Faculty of Medicine at a national university, studied at the graduate school, and got a job as a researcher. Her hard work and study at the cram school became the foundation for many students to later pass the entrance exam to Kyoto University's Faculty of Medicine. This year was the sixth student from my school to be admitted to the Kyoto University School of Medicine.

　Her life is a story of chasing a dream and making it come true. The light she left behind continues to shine on many students who are aiming for the future. Mari, you are truly a treasure of Japan. I wish there were more people like you in this world.

　Your story will forever remain in the hearts of all of us. As a lighthouse to all those who pursue their dreams.
