はじめに

２０１７年１０月３日，２日に新党『立憲民主党』を立ち上げたばかりの元民進党・枝野幸男代表代行は，東京の有楽町で結党後初の演説を行いました。党公式ツイッターがそのダイジェスト映像をツイート動画にまとめたので，そのダイジェスト版のスクリプトとして和文・英文それぞれを「参考」に，独自に書き起こし、飜訳してまとめました。

私たちは、立憲主義という言葉をもう一度思い出さなければならない、そんな状況になっている。

We must revisit the notion of "Constitutionalism" again. 
That's where we stand today.

＜情報公開、公文書管理、森友・加計問題＞ 
Handling of disclosure and public documents, Moritomo/Kake issues

森友も加計も、税金の使われ方の問題なんです。

Moritomo and Kake are both matters dealing with how our taxes are used.

国有地が安く払い下げられたら、その分は皆さんの税金が食い物にされたのと一緒です。

If a state-owned land is sold at a lower price than it should be, then that gap represents the amount of your taxes that was wasted. 

＜民主主義＞
Fighting for democracy

安保法制をきっかけに、それまで政治にあまり関わりのなかった人たちが、声をあげていただけるようになった。この流れを止めてはいけない。

The security legislation of 2015 opened doors for voices arising from those who were not traditionally involved in politics until then. We should not stop this momentum.

 草の根の民主主義を取り戻しましょう。

We need to take back our democracy at the grass-roots level.

上からの経済政策はもうやめましょう。 

Let's put a stop on economic policies that come down from the above.

＜対立軸、保守とリベラル＞
Conservatism vs. Liberalism?

 右か左かなんていうイデオロギーの時代じゃないんです。
上からか、草の根からか。これが21世紀の本当の対立軸なんです。

We don't live in an era of ideological confrontations anymore. No 'Right' or 'Left'. It's 'Top-down' or 'Bottom-up'.  This should be the true point of conflict of the 21st century.
