息子の学校のmission statement作りに参加してきました。

world cafe形式で、下記の４つについて親同士で議論。最終的にそれぞれ３つ程度に絞り込みましたが、ワイン片手（ワインとチーズが学校からサーブされた！）に平日夜に活発な議論。
1. What are the most important characteristics of an excellent education?
2. What knowledge, skills, and attitudes do you think your child need to thrive in life after school?
3. In 20 years, what part of a child's education do you believe will still be relevant for their life?
4. What values do you hope a school would instill in your child?

・まず学校のmission作りに親たちがこう参加できるのはとてもありがたい。自分にとっても他の親たちが何を考えているのかを聞くいい機会。

・意外、でもないかもしれないが割と共通意見が多い。キーワードとしては
　emotional intelligence, confidence, positive risk taker, embracing change, adopt to diversity, self awareness/ discipline, innovation, digital intelligence, などなど・・・

・振り返るとアジア系の参加がとても少ない。（そもそも所属生徒が少ない、言語ハンデがある？などが理由か。）そういえば、この3月で息子、この学校（高校まである）で唯一の日本人になりました（！）。それを踏まえると、学校の多様性に反映するためにも、自分が積極的にinputしたいという気持ちになります。

徒然ですが・・・今回のinputを元にmission statementが作られ、さらに意見を募って5月くらいに完成するとのこと。どんなのができるか楽しみです。
