Agree or disagree: The traditional family units have become less important in modern society.

It can be said that the traditional structure of family has lost its relevance in recent society because of youngsters’ unwillingness to get married, stagnant economic picture and female advancement in our society.

One reason to corroborate my stance is that more and more young people are reluctant to tie the knot. The rapid emergence of new technologies such as mobile phones can be one of the main causes of such a social phenomenon. Due to this technological advancement, it is possible for us to communicate with each other without any geographical limitations, thereby rendering face-to-face communication a thing of the past. It seems the idea that physical communication is unnecessary has been entrenched among young people. Therefore, numerous youngsters give up getting married to partners.

Another factor is that economic situation worsens owing to COVID-19 and Russia’s atrocious invasion of Ukraine. Anemic economic circumstances surely discourage us from building our family units. For instance, if we want our children to receive high-quality education, it will entail significant amount of money. Given the fact that unstable economy tends to generate financially unsound situations, it must be a tall order for us to sustain conventional family structures.

At the root of the disappearance of traditional family structures are many countries’ attempts to encourage women to climb a corporate ladder in our society. Although women’s increased participation in the business world is a positive tendency in terms of fostering diverse environment, a great deal of work and stress has the potential to hinder women from engaging in family work. As a consequence, the obsolete belief that women should focus on house miscellaneous duties has been losing its importance.

Thus, these three reasons mentioned above such as youngsters’ reluctance to marry, flagging economic situation and women’s increased societal activities in male-dominated society have eroded traditional family structures’ role in modern society.
