This podcast is about my daily life in Brisbane, Australia as a native Japanese-speaking learner of English.

今日は、タイトルの通りですが、約2年ぶりにオンライン英会話の先生をやりました。という話です。
Okay, so in today's episode. as mentioned in the title, I restarted teaching English online two years after I stopped teaching online. 

2年前のコロナの時期くらいに実はオンライン英会話の先生をやっていたんですよ。
I used to be an online English teacher as a part-time job around the COVID pandemic, around 2 years ago. 

今は、オーストラリアでお仕事していますのでなかなか時間が取れず定期的にクラスできないなぁと思ってやっていなかったんですね。
I currently have a job in Australia and luckily I am busy, so I don't usually have enough time to conduct online lessons. 

ただ、今週少し余裕があったのと、登録したアカウントでクラスが出来そうだったので、本当にふと思い立ってやってみました。
However, this week, I have some spare time and my registered account still works, and suddenly I decided to teach English on the platform. 

と言っても、英語でお話をして必要であれば少しだけポイントをお伝えするくらいなんですけどね。
Although I said 'teaching English', it is just talking to my students in English and pointing out their strengths and room for improvement. 
　
やってみた感想は、「たーのーしーいー！」です。
And my impression after conducting classes is it was just fun!

普段出会えない方とお話しできるって本当にすごいことですよね。
One thing I really like about being an online English teacher is I can meet cool people who I can not meet in real life. 

そう。そうやってクラスをやっていて思い出したんですけど
この英語日記、そのプラットフォームで出会った生徒さんのお声からやろうかなぁという気持ちになったのを思い出しました。
Yeah, and the classes remind me of my motivation to start this English journal podcast. 

何人かの生徒さんが、
オンライン英会話って毎日できるし、教科書なんかも使いますが、
実際に英語力が伸びたかと言われると、自信を持っていえないと。おっしゃってたんですね。
Several students said that they can take lessons every single day through an online English learning platform. However, they do not feel they have improved as expected. 
　
日常英会話のクラスとっていても、この表現実際使わないなぁという経験はありませんか？
私の場合は、
「洗濯物取り込んでおいてくれる？」とか
「今日の夕飯何がいいと思う？」とかの方が使います笑。

Have you ever had the experience that even though you take a 'daily conversation class', the expressions in the textbook do not match the expressions you use in your daily life? 
In my case, 'Could you please bring in the clothes on the line?" or "What would you like for dinner?" these phrases are used frequently rather than "I'm fine thank you, and you?". 

そこで、ブログのようなものを作って、英語のテストで役立つ表現じゃなくて、「本当の」毎日の生活を話したら、よく使う表現が見つかるのかしら？と思ってこのポッドキャスト始めたんだったなぁ。と思いました。
Then I thought about creating a monologue about my daily life without considering grammar or expressions which are useful for proficiency tests and might be good or useful for people who would like to express their 'true' daily life. 
Then, I decided to start this podcast. 
This teaching experience reminds me of when I started this podcast

そんなわけで今日のエピソードでお伝えしたかったことは全部で3つです。
So the things that I wanted to tell you in this episode are covered in three points.
　
1 オンライン英会話の先生久々にやりました
I restarted teaching English online after a 2 year break. 
　
2 感想は「たーのーしーかったー」の一言です
It was really fun!
　
3 オンライン英会話をやってみて、このポッドキャストを始めるきっかけを思い出したという話でした。
This teaching experience reminds me of the reasons I started this podcast. 

今日の小噺
Could you please bring in the clothes on the line: 洗濯物取り込んでおいてくれる？
　
これはオーストラリアだけの表現なんでしょうか？
オーストラリアって、物干し竿のようなものが何本も細いロープが貼ってあるところに干すんですよ。
この細いロープの部分をline っていうので、
the clothes on the line：外に干してある洗濯物　
という意味になります。
こういう細かい違いっていまだに難しいです。
食洗機の中身をしまう：empty the dishwasherとか日本語と表現が違うものが多いですよねぇ。
あぁむずかしい。
