『SKETCH TRAVEL』という本をご存じですか？

世界でも名立たる素晴らしいアーティストたち71人が、一冊のスケッチブックに絵を描いて、文字通り世界中を旅したという夢のような本です。
このプロジェクトは堤大介とジェラルド・ゲルレという2人の有能なアーティストによって企画されました。どれを取っても優れた作品が収録されているその中でも、私が最も好きな絵があります。それはフレデリック・バック（「木を植えた男」で1987年の短編アカデミー賞を取ったカナダのアニメーション作家）によって描かれた一枚の絵です。

その絵には、産業で汚染された海と、美しい海に大きなクジラやイルカが生き生きとし、鳥たちが飛び、そこに人間がパラシュートで共に飛んでいる様子が描かれていました。たとえ悲しい現実があっても、けして未来を諦めない、この絵に込められたメッセージの強さと大きな優しさに言葉を失いました。バックさんが生涯を通して伝えていた人間と自然が共存することの大切さ、未来に対する希望が一枚の絵の中にすべて表現されていました。持っている想いを伝えることができる、そのアーティストとしての表現力にも感動を覚この本を通して、世の中におけるアートの持つ普遍的な力強さ、素晴らしさを改めて実感し、また作り手の情熱を感じることができました。

このような希望に溢れた、夢のある企画をしてくれたお二人と、そして世界中のアーティストの方々に深い敬意と感謝を捧げます。

Do you know a book called "SKETCH TRAVEL"？

It is a book like a dream that 71 great artists who are masterpieces in the world draw pictures in one sketchbook and traveled literally all over the world.
This project was planned / advanced by two talented artists, Daisuke Tsutsumi and Gerald Gelle.

Whatever you take, excellent works are recorded. Among them, I have the most favorite picture. It is a picture painted by Frederick Back (a Canadian animation writer who took the 1987 Short Academy Award in "The Man Who Planted a Tree").

In the painting, the whale and dolphins flying in the sea contaminated with the industry and still in the beautiful sea, the birds were also flying, and the appearance that people are flying together in parachute there . Even if there is a sad reality, I lost the word to the strength and great kindness of the message put in this picture, without giving up for the future. The importance of hope and coexistence of human and nature that he told throughout his life was expressed all within one picture.
I was moved by the ability as an artist who can express the feelings.

Through this book, I realized again the universal strength and splendor of art in the world, and I was able to feel the passion of artists.
