「彼女の握手から感じられるのは、手の筋肉の緊張度(muscle tone)よりむしろ純粋な切迫感(pure urgency)。」

動詞 "telegraph (v)"には、
＜意図・決意などを＞身振り[顔つきなど]で感づかせる。事前に察知させる。という意味があります！

アマゾン先住民ワオラニ族の女性リーダー、ネモンテ・ネンキモさんは
先住民による組織「Amazon Frontlines」、「Ceibo Alliance」の共同設立者でもあります。エクアドルのヤスニ生物圏保護区（Yasuni National Park)（＝自分たちの領地）を、承諾なしに油田開発業者に売り渡そうとしたエクアドル政府を相手どって裁判を起こし勝訴しました。今はその裁判命令(order)を執行させる(enforced)ために活動中です。

★自然と一体化した暮らしが当たり前の部族の人からの言葉は、ただただ美しく文明の中で暮らす人たちも、見習うところがあるなぁと感じました。(^^♪
