Yappli Announces Numerous Updates Enabling Modern App Designs - Introducing RFM analysis, a New Feature for Enhanced Security and Customer Behavior Analysis

Yappli, Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan, Representative Director and CEO: Yasubumi Ihara, hereinafter “Yappli, Inc.”) – a mobile DX company with the mission of “making digital transformation easier” – hosted Yappli Summit 2023 from October 4 (Wed) to 7 (Fri), 2023. During this event, Yappli, Inc. introduced a multitude of new features for its product lineup, including the “Yappli” app platform and the “Yappli CRM,” a mobile app-centric customer relationship management.   

In April 2023, the app platform Yappli celebrated its 10th year of service, and we are proud to announce that it has seen the creation of over 800 Yappli-made apps, with a cumulative download count surpassing 160 million.

As part of our second venture, Yappli CRM, a mobile app-centric customer relationship management, was launched in October 2021. After two years of service, it has grown to be adopted by over 70 companies.

Furthermore, in May 2023, we introduced Yappli for Retail App Ads, a retail media service aimed at maximizing revenue in the retail and distribution sector. In August, we also launched Yappli UNITE, a service designed to enhance organizational engagement through mobile apps.

With a commitment to driving these multi-product initiatives, Yappli, Inc. is excited to bring you Yappli Summit 2023 under the theme “Next Voyage.” We have designed various programs with the desire to embark on a journey toward the next 10 years alongside our valued client companies and partners. From product announcements (Yappli UPDATE) of our flagship product Yappli and our secondary product Yappli CRM, we will showcase new features that enable everyone to securely and easily operate higher-quality apps.

■ Exciting Updates Continue to Unveil in 2023, Enabling Modern App Designs
The new app platform "Block UI," introduced last year, enables flexible and easy app development by combining modular components called “blocks.” Over the past year, approximately half of Yappli-made apps have leveraged this feature. Utilizing Block UI has made it easier than ever to create modern and distinctive app designs.

  • A wide range of video types and playback variations, tailored to the social media  era

  • Achieving a more enriched, seamless, and engaging carousel display

  • Substantial improvements to map representations, including distance indicators from nearby stores

  • Grouping of multiple blocks, simplifying configurations for campaigns 

  • A substantial increase in the number of available block templates

  • The ability to specify APIs as data sources, substantially expanding content utilization

In addition to these updates, we have made several refinements to enhance the user experience, including options for bottom displays in web views, optimized permission dialog display timing when initiating the app, fine-tuning of tab bar menu settings, improved e-book features, and user-friendly upgrades to the CMS.

■ Yappli Analytics, Specialized App Operations Analysis Tool
In response to Google's discontinuation of Universal Analytics support in July 2023, we have introduced “Yappli Analytics,” a unique analytics tool tailored for app operations analysis.

Yappli Analytics offers essential features for app performance analysis, including “Active User Insights,” to understand the times and days when the app is launched. You can also access “Screen Data” to search for popular content and screen names and track view counts. Moreover, it provides support for measuring push notification open rates and conducting cohort analysis. Notably, we now also provide access to response data from forms, a feature that was previously unavailable. Furthermore, Yappli Analytics seamlessly Integrates with Google Analytics 4.

These enhancements enable more precise measurement of user behavior, empowering more efficient app strategies and operations.

■ Enhanced Security with Permissions Management for Secure App Operations with Multiple Team Members
In our ongoing efforts to enhance security since last year, which include features such as IP restrictions and two-factor authentication, we have introduced a new account extension feature, “Permissions Management.” This feature empowers users to set and manage Yappli's CMS permissions on an individual account basis.

When multiple team members collaborate on app operations, there is a potential for overlapping actions on the CMS, which can lead to unintended data overwrites or accidental editing of different content, concerns that have been raised by our valued clients.

To address these concerns, we have introduced "Custom Roles," a feature that allows you to define distinct groups with specific operational boundaries and content editing capabilities. This capability simplifies member assignments, enabling account administrators to customize content access and functionality for each team member. With this feature, even in multi-member app management scenarios, the risk of inadvertent content editing is effectively minimized.

Additionally, we have made various improvements and updates to enhance the UI/UX, including the introduction of the “Short Video Feature,” which enables automatic vertical video playback and web page embedding. Furthermore, we are actively developing new features such as “Survey Form Feature” and “Lottery Feature,” which will be rolled out in the near future.

■ RFM Analysis Empowers More Personalized Strategies through Customer Purchase History Management
Yappli CRM has been actively enhancing its integration with Yappli-made apps. As part of our ongoing efforts, and in response to the most frequent requests from our client companies, we have introduced the essential feature of Yappli CRM, “RFM analysis” (purchase history management) as a new feature.  

This feature classifies customers based on three key indicators: the date of their last purchase, purchase frequency, and purchase volume (amount spent). Customer purchase data is seamlessly integrated into the CRM, allowing for the visualization of RFM ranks, transition reports, and the ability to implement triggered actions and push notifications tailored to customer segments (e.g., loyal customers, repeat customers, new customers).

For instance, high-frequency users who have been inactive for a period since their last purchase can receive targeted push notifications to prevent churn. Similarly, customers with high visit frequency but low purchase amounts can be encouraged to upgrade their membership status.

To utilize the RFM analysis feature, integration of purchase data with Yappli CRM is required. We have made this integration seamless by providing standard data formats, CSV formats and APIs, while bolstering support from our experienced integration development team.

Looking ahead, we plan to further enhance integration with apps and web services beyond Yappli, expanding the range of possibilities for utilization.

■ Simplifying and Enhancing Content Creation and Management
During our ten-year journey of assisting companies in app development, operation, and analysis, we have identified a common challenge among many businesses: content creation. To address this, we are currently in the process of developing the next-generation CMS, 
“Project Cyan,” which leverages AI and automation technologies to streamline content creation processes and maximize the content value. Our focus extends beyond apps to include integration with various channels such as websites, e-commerce, and email.

Yappli, Inc. will further help businesses “Go Mobile” and connect with their customers through apps.
