さて、今年2021年も終盤となりましたが、co・iki (co-iki.org)のリモートレジデンシーPOLYTOPIA（ポリトピア）が始まりました！

今年も、各国のアーティスト・クリエイターを迎え、変容する「地域性」「地域固有性（土着性）」を想像/創造的プロセスをもって参加のみなさんとともに深堀りしていきます。

昨年2020の"Creativity from HOME" ( https://co-iki.org/en_US/events/creativity-from-home/ ) は、パンデミック初期の状況に呼応し、「家」「ホーム」から着想を得、7か国から参加したクリエイターたちがプロジェクトやリサーチを展開しました。

そして、今年はそこから発展し、またパンデミックの次フェーズとして、Locality(地域性・局所性・土着性）がテーマです。

ただ、ここでのLocaityはこれまでの既存の概念を覆すものが望まれます（参加アーティスト次第なのでお楽しみに（笑））。

Localityの概念はパンデミック前からずっと変容し続けています。

また、パンデミックによって更に変化し、その多層的な意味合いがビジブルに、表出してきたようにおもえます。これは地域コミュニティや関係性の築き方がラディカルに、また局所的に、変わってきているからではないかと想像します。

あらためて、このLocality「地域性」に向き合って、各国の土地と風土の中から、現代を生きる人たち、更には、想像/創造力をもって取り組める人たちがタックルすべきテーマだと感じています。そして、その取り組みが分断されそうなコミュニティ同士を、人同士を、物質と非物質を、時には国際間を繋いでいけるようにおもっています。

これまでとは違った、新しい「地域」「近隣」「コミュニティ」のかたちが築かれていく時に、今私たちはいるのでないでしょうか？

デジタルツールはそれを手伝ってくれています。

ただ、環境依存するものは時に格差を生みます。

そこで必要なのはリモート（遠隔）でも、離れていても、相手や見知らぬ存在についていかに「想像するか」にかかってくるのではないかと考えます。

その「想像力」はこれからの時代の「技術」、テクノロジーです。

このテクノロジーをどう応用していけるか、そこを担っていけるのが現代に生きるアーティストであり、そこに関わる人々だと信じています。

コロナ下、文化芸術分野も大きな打撃がありましたが、そのなかで明確化したアーティストの役割もあったようにおもいます。

この度の実験リモートレジデンシーPOLYTOPIAが、その役割はもちろん、様々な背景の人々のHUBとなり、既存の概念や意識の変容に役立てられる場となれば嬉しいですし、またそれが本望です。

I would be happy if POLYTOPIA, an experimental remote residency, could become a hub for people from various backgrounds and help to change existing concepts and attitudes.
