Hello guys! How are you all doing? I will talk about thanksgiving! I’d been so so excited to celebrate it because I’d never tried it before in Japan.

日本の皆さん、こんにちは！お元気にしていますか？今回は待ちに待ってたthanksgivingについてまとめてます！ 日本にはあまりなじみがないので少し説明も添えて、レポートしていきたいと思います:)（個人的にはついに本場のthanksgiving!! めちゃくちゃ楽しみにしてました）

Friendsgiving
Thanksgiving is a very big holiday for Americans! It is usually celebrated to gather families with good thanksgiving dishes. I didn’t know that there is also “Friendsgiving”, which is a celebration with friends. I’ve been to friendsgiving dinner twice before thanksgiving day:) They are typical thanksgiving meals, which are turkey, mashed potatoes with cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, etc… I had the same dishes at friendsgiving. After dinner, there was lots of chatting and playing games. One day, I played “murder in the dark” for the first time at church at night, in which some murderers had to kill somebody in the dark room, then if the other ones found the one killed by murder had to shout out “murder in the dark!!” It was lots of fun actually:)) Also, I participated in the international thanksgiving dinner on the last day before thanksgiving break! It was such a big dinner that there were about 130 people. We played trivia as a team at a table, and there was an international fashion show that the international students wore traditional clothes. I put on a yukata then, which is a kind of kimono for the summer season. It was very interesting that I could see the traditional clothes from Korea, Vietnam, Myanmar, Nigeria, Uganda etc..

アメリカのthanksgivingは家族で集まってお祝いする休日。そこでthanksgivingが近づくと友達同士でお祝いするfriendsgivingというイベントがあることを知りました！thanksgiving当日までに2回参加しました！thanksgivingの代表的な食事はターキー、マッシュドポテトにクランベリーソース、パンプキンパイ、マッケンチーズ、スウィートポテトetc.. ここでも同じ食事をみんなでシェアしました。みんなでご飯を食べた後は喋ってゲームしてという流れ。thanksgiving前の土日に呼ばれたのでは、夜の教会で”murder in the dark”という新しい遊びをしました:) 名前の通り、部屋を真っ暗にして鬼に殺された人はその場に倒れる。誰かが殺人にあった人を見つけたら”muder in the dark”と叫ぶ遊び。なかなか楽しかったです:))　thanksgiving break前日の夜はinternational thanksgiving dinnerに参加。130人くらい集まった大きなディナーでした。ここではテーブルごと対戦のtriviaをやったり、international fashion showと言って伝統的な衣装を着て披露するという感じ。私も日本から持っていった浴衣を着て歩きました。他にも韓国、ベトナム、ミャンマー、ナイジェリア、ウガンダetc の衣装を見ることができました。

Thanksgiving Day- November 23rd, Thu
My friend invited me to his place on thanksgiving day. It was very interesting for me to try new dishes, not “the typical American thanksgiving dishes” because his family is from America and Puerto Rico. I’ve tried to have plantains(it looks like a banana but a kind of vegetable) . We started eating a big dinner and talked a lot. I had a great time!! After that, we binge-watched “Squid game: The challenge” all at once. (I cannot wait for the next episode.) I will introduce “Thanksgiving” a little bit here! As I said before, Thanksgiving is a national holiday of giving thanks for the harvest. Normally, It is celebrated with good meals by gathering families on the fourth Thursday in November. (It is common for Americans to watch football games or Mery’s parade in NY on that day) I had thanksgiving break from Nov 22nd to 26th. Almost all offices and facilities of the university are closed on that break. Also, all stores in Lawrence are closed on thanksgiving day. I remember I was just so surprised that it was very quiet and there were no cars on the street. It was kinda funny for me that I couldn't imagine that situation at all.

thanksgiving当日は友達のおうちに招待させてもらいました。ここのおうちはアメリカとプエルトリコのミックスのお家だったので、食事もplantains（野菜版のバナナ）が使われているものだったりザ・アメリカンではなくてまた新しくて面白かったです。（個人的に既にthanksgiving dishesに胃もたれ状態だったから助かった）午後3時ごろにおうちに到着して、はやめの夕食をみんなで食べておはなしして。そのあとはイカゲーム　ザ・チャレンジをみんなで一気見しました。（続きが気になってる）ここでthanksgivingについて少し紹介。thanksgivingはアメリカ人にとって大きな家族で集まる休日！毎年11月4週目の木曜日です。大学は前日の水曜日から日曜日までお休みになって、大学ほぼ全体がクローズしました。まちのようすも、木曜日は完全にクローズ。お店はどこも完全に閉まっていたし、車もガラガラ。このアメリカのわかりやすいon/offモードがいつも面白いなと感じます。

Black Friday- November 24th, Fri
It was such a fun day!! First thing, I was so excited for black friday such that I made a bucket list!! Even though I arrived at the shopping mall with friends before 9am, there were already lots of people!! What a very busy morning!! (Everyone didn’t look dressed up just pajamas, then almost all of them were wearing christmas pants lol) It changed into the christmas atmosphere suddenly!! It was playing christmas songs at the whole mall!! This is the second point:)) All stores had super big sales. I went to Hollister, American Eagle, Aeropostale, Bath and body works, Forever 21, Tj-max, Target, Sam's club etc… I love American fashions and stores but we don’t have these shops in Japan so it was super fun for me!! They make me very happy that I just went into them, so this is the third point:))) I bought some clothes, blankets, room lights etc… As you already know, I enjoyed black friday a lot!!!

欲しいものリストを事前から作っておくほど、楽しみにしてました！この日は友達に朝からショッピングモールに連れて行ってもらいました。9時前くらいに到着したけど、朝からめちゃくちゃ忙しい。すでに人がたくさん！（みんなクリスマスパンツはいてどう見てもパジャマだ、という感じ）一気にクリスマスモードに変わっていて、モール全体がクリスマスソングがガンガンにかかっていました:) Old Navyとかは全品50％オフとかで、多くのお店がスーパーバーゲンって感じ！イメージ的に日本の初売りみたいなイメージかな？Hollister, American Eagle, Aeropostale, Bath and body works, Forever21, Tj-max, Target, Sam's club etc… アメリカのショッピングはいつも最高に楽しいです！私はここで洋服、ブランケット、ルームライトなどなど沢山購入:)　お分かりの通り、まるまる１日あっちに行ってこっちに行ってとBlack Fridayを満喫しました:) 1日中ショッピングに付き合ってくれた友達に感謝しかないです。

As a result, I had lots of fun during Thanksgiving week!! I still have a big event this month, CHRISTMAS!!! Personally, I love christmas a lot, and I really can’t wait because I will celebrate it in the US finally!! Thanks for reading this time as well. Happy holidays!
