I wish I had more gratitude in my life (1/3)

In today's topic, I am going to talk about "【3 regrets of dying】I wish I hadn't worked so hard"

【3 regrets of dying】I wish I hadn't worked so hard (2/3)

This is the regret of "I worked too hard and didn't take care of what was important to me".

It's a so-called work-life balance.

For example, there are the following

As soon as I retired, I became lonely.
I had attention because of my title.
The only people who loved me were my family but I did not spend a lot time with them.

They are basically that they should have spent more time with their family.

We tend to focus more on material success, such as a big house, a nice car, and a luxurious life.

It wasn't material wealth that mattered in life, it was an "experience".

'Make a lot of money and you'll be happy' is a big mistake...

Even in positive psychology, it is said that happiness increases with experiences, not things.

When you are in the prime of your working life, you think that working hard is good for the company, society, and your family.

So you often work late and try your best to make your career successful.

That is what you think is the best things for your family, but ironically, because of this, you spend less time with your family.

Many people regret that in their dying moments.

Money is important, but time for fun experiences with your family is more important. Do more trips, camping, board games, walks and anything else you can think of to experience together with your family.

There is also this regret. ↓

I thought I'd get my happiness later.
I didn't know until the last minute that I would regret working so hard.

It's the idea that happiness comes after hard work.

When we got to high school, we had to sacrifice our private life to get into a good university...
When we got to university, we had to sacrifice our private life to get into a good company...
When we joined a company, we had to sacrifice our private life for the future and retirement...

There are many things in life that can only be done at the moment and only when we are young.

It's important to do what you can only do at the moment and not leave anything behind.

But this doesn't mean that you should throw out the things you need to do and do whatever you want to do like playing video games or going to a party each day. Do what you need to do, invest yourself in your future while enjoying the moment.

It would be best if an exciting experience that you can only do at the moment will help you to grow or lead to the future development of your career.

Although it would be good for aiming for the fun experience some, just be careful as most of the ad hoc pleasures do not lead you to the future development of your career. that means you are wasting your time.

Think about when you die, imagine how your funeral looks like. Feel how your loved ones are thinking about you at the time.

If you have worked so much and have not spent a lot of time with your family, your family members would not have much engagement with you and they would not miss you much.

If you wasted a lot of time at each moment of your life, you probably did not become an ideal person that your family or friends respect to.

It is all about work-life balance, you have to maintain the balance really well. Find more precious time for a good experience with your loved ones and do not waste it.
