節分が終わって旧暦では新年を迎えていますが、みなさんいかがお過ごしでしょうか。私は真面目に方角を調べて恵方巻をほうばっていました。

　先週末に後期試験が終わり、今年度の授業スケジュールはすべて終わりました。後は真冬のサイテンやら清算、次年度のシラバス作成と事務作業が続きます。そんな中Ａｍａｚｏｎプライムでお薦めであがっていた「私の夫と結婚して」という韓流ドラマにはまってしまいました。あらすじは不幸な人生を歩んでいた主人公がタイムスリップして、再び人生をやり直すというストーリーです。このストーリーの中での前提条件として、これまで起こってきたことは変えることはできないということです。なので、将来？起きることを想定して、そのことに対してどう向き合うのかが大事になります。前の人生とは違う向き合い方をすることによって、自分が本当に望んでいる人生を歩みはじめる主人公の姿がとても清々しくて思わず一気見してしまいました。あくまでドラマの話なので、実際にはありえない話なのですが、現実にどのように向き合えばいいのかを教えてくれたような気がします。

　ちなみに私の試験はすべて問題を事前公開して、持ち込みもありにしています。つまり、しっかり準備さえすれば誰でも解答できるようにしているのです。ただ、時間内ですべての問題を解くことはできないような問題量にしています。そのため学生はどの問題をどの順番でいくつ解くかを事前に考えてくる必要があります。私はそのプロセスも評価の対象にしています。つまり、試験に対してどのような戦略で臨んだかも採点しているのです。

　そして、もう１つチェックしてことがあります。それは試験への取り組み姿勢です。試験問題が膨大なため、試験時間が足りないことは明らかです。そのため、試験が終わるその瞬間まで試験と向き合うことが必定となってくるのですが、やはり途中であきらめてしまう学生が一定数存在します。それがなぜわかるかという試験は筆記なので、試験時間中はぶっ通しでペンが動いているべきなのです。しかし、途中でスマホをずっと見たり寝たりする学生がいるので、その姿でどれだけ試験に真摯に向き合っているのかわかるのです。必死で解答していた学生は手が真っ黒になって、私にその手を見せるぐらいアピールしてきます。

　このように単なる試験の解答だけで学生を評価することはそろそろ辞めた方がいいのではと私は常々思っています。経営の神様と言われた松下幸之助さんは、就職面接のとき学生を見るのは部屋から出る瞬間だけだったと言われています。その瞬間が緊張感が一瞬解けてその人となりが出るからだそうです。つまり、試験の解答内容だけではなく、その試験に対する準備や取り組み姿勢、試験後の態度等を総合的に見て学生を評価する必要があると思いますので、私はそれを試行錯誤しながら実践しているという感じです。

　学生にとって試験という現実は避けられない項目だと思います。しかし、普段授業に出ていなくても試験問題だけサラッと解く学生もいます。もちろん、その学生はある意味優秀なのかもしれません。大学もそういう学生を持ち上げる傾向があります。しかし、私はコツコツと努力を積み重ねている学生に光が当たるような試験をしたいと思います。なので、色々な側面からその学生の良さが評価できる仕組みづくりについてこれからも考えていくつもりです。そうすればドラマの主人公のように自分が望んだ人生を歩める学生が一人でも二人でも増えるのではないでしょうか。

　これから大学教員になる人は、試験の解答だけではなく多面的に学生を評価する人になってほしいと思います。そして、どんな現実があったとしてもそこから逃げずに真摯に向き合える学生を育ててほしいと願います。

Evaluation of the study.

Setsubun is over and the new year is coming according to the old calendar. How is everyone? I was seriously checking the direction and looking for Ehomaki.

The second semester ended last weekend, and the class schedule for this school year is all over. After that, we will continue with the mid-winter season, the settlement, the syllabus preparation for the next year, and the office work. Meanwhile, I fell in love with the Korean drama "Marry My Husband," which was recommended on Amazon Prime. The plot is about the main character who leads an unhappy life and goes back in time to start his life again. A prerequisite in this story is that what has happened cannot be changed. So in the future? It's important to assume what's going to happen and how you're going to face it. I couldn't help but binge-watch the protagonist start to live the life I really want by facing it in a different way. It's just a drama, so it's not really possible, but I think it taught me how to face reality.

By the way, all of my exams are open to questions in advance, and you can bring your own. In other words, if you prepare well, anyone can answer. But the amount of problems is such that you can't solve all the problems in time. So the students have to think in advance about which problems to solve several in which order. I also evaluate that process. In other words, I also score the strategy that you used for the exam. And one more thing to check. That's the attitude toward the exam. It's clear that there's not enough time for the exam because there are so many questions. That's why you have to face the exam until the moment it's over, but there's still a certain number of students who give up. Because the exam is written, the pen should be running throughout the exam. But there are students who look at their phones and sleep all the way through the exam, so they can see how seriously they are taking the exam. The students who are desperately trying to answer the questions turn black and show their hands to me.

I always think it's time to stop judging students based on their answers. Mr. Konosuke Matsushita, who was said to be the god of management, is said to have seen students only when they left the room during a job interview. This is because the tension is released for a moment and the person emerges. In other words, I think it is necessary to evaluate students not only by their answers, but also by their preparation for the exam, their attitude toward the exam, and their attitude after the exam. I feel that I am doing this by trial and error.

I think the reality of the exam is an inevitable item for students. However, there are some students who do not usually attend class and just solve the exam questions. Of course, the student may be good in a way. Universities also tend to lift such students. However, I would like to give an exam that shines a light on the students who are working hard. Therefore, I will continue to think about creating a system to evaluate the merits of the students from various aspects. If I do that, I think there will be one or two more students who can live the life they want like the main character in the drama.

I hope that the person who will become a university teacher will become a person who evaluates students not only in terms of exam answers but also in terms of multiple aspects. And I hope that they will nurture students who will be able to sincerely face whatever reality there is without running away from it.
