The World Happiness Report is made by the UN. 

It looks at about 150 countries 

and decides how happy 

each country is. 

It checks how long people in the country live healthy lives and how much money they have. 

It checks 

how good public services are 

and how much people trust them. 

The report also asks people how happy they are. 

In the 2022 report, 

Finland has the top place, 

then Denmark and Iceland. 

Canada, the USA, the UK, and New Zealand are all in the top 20. 

The result is not surprising, 

but the surprise is how people feel. 

First, they report feeling less stressed than in 2021, even though the pandemic is not over. 

Also, people are more generous than in earlier years. 

They do volunteer work, 

give to charity, 

and help strangers.

It seems that the New Normal has been here.

国連が作っている「世界幸福度報告書」では約150カ国を対象に、それぞれの国がどれだけ幸せかを調べています。その国の人々がどのくらい健康に暮らしているか、どのくらいお金を持っているかをチェックします。また、公共サービスがどれだけ充実しているか、人々がどれだけ公共サービスを信頼しているかも調べます。また、この報告書では、人々がどれだけ幸せであるかも尋ねています。

2022年の報告書では、フィンランドがトップで、デンマーク、アイスランドが続いています。カナダ、アメリカ、イギリス、ニュージーランドは20位以内に入っています。この結果は驚くべきものではありませんが、驚くべきは人々の気持ちです。まず、パンデミックが終わっていないにもかかわらず、2021年よりもストレスを感じなくなったと報告しています。また、人々は以前よりも寛大になっています。ボランティア活動をしたり、慈善団体に寄付をしたり、見知らぬ人を助けたりしているのです。ニューノーマルはこんな所にもあったようですね。
