文理融合って、どこまでのレベルが必要なのか?

東大が文理融合の学部・修士一貫過程「カレッジ・オブ・デザイン」を創設する。文理融合は最近の流行らしいが、どこまでのレベルが求められるのか?

学問的に必要なレベルであれば、例えば経済学部の場合、大学入試レベルの世界史・日本史・地理と、大学入試レベルを超える数学(線形代数など)が必要になる。理工学部の場合は、特に社会科科目は必要ない。しかし、社会から科学技術を考えるためには、地球環境問題は学んでおく必要がある。

ビジネスで求められるレベルはどうか?メーカー勤務の場合、営業職だと、最低でも中学レベルの理科は理解しておかないと、顧客から馬鹿にされることがある。余裕があれば、高校の理科基礎くらいは学んでおきたい。技術職の場合は、マーケティングや簿記の知識があると、ビジネスに貢献できる技術職になれるだろう。

ちなみに、普段から文理融合的な考え方をしていないと、忘れてしまう。私も数学を忘れてしまった。理系であったとしても、文系就職した人は数学や物理、化学を忘れているだろう。

国立大学卒業の人で、18歳の時の科目数で威張ったりマウンティングしてくる人がいるが、今の時点で、その学習したことを使いこなせていないと、ただの過去の栄光だろう。今、仕事などで活用したり、個人的にブログなどで情報発信していないと、人間は忘れてしまう。もちろん、一度学んだことは思い出しやすいので、リスキリングには有利かもしれない。
