Good neighbor Franz

ドイツに住む木工家フランツは、パリの @brutal_ceramics で私のマグや花器を手にしてくれ、私達は繋がりました。

それをきっかけに、彼のインスタを見ると2018年に日本を旅していたのです。
うれしくなって当時のpostを見ると、
私がお世話になっている吉祥寺の @svale_furniture を訪れていて、素晴らしい店と評し、彼は知ってか知らずかそこには私の作品が写っていて驚いた。

「買ってくれた」
という一場面をフォーカスしがちだけど、
過去を紐解くと、すれ違いを重ねながら、
どう出会って来たのかが見えて来て、
それまで、と、そこから、のストーリーがある。
それはものすごい喜びがあって、
一人ひとりにあると知ると震えるくらい。

出会う理由は距離ではなくて、
日々見てるものが近くて、ご近所さんのような感覚が大切なような。

フランツは、土地の歴史を見てきた樹齢400年になる木も作品にする。
安全上のことで切られた木は生まれ変わり、人の生活に宿ります。

いつか触れたいと願ってたフランツの作品は、もうすぐドイツから日本へ旅立ちます。

会う楽しみは未来にとっておいて
彼の話を聞く機会はないと思うので

Franz, who lives in Germany, picked up some of my mugs and vases at @brutal_ceramics in Paris and we connected.

That led me to his Instagram, where I saw that he had traveled to Japan in 2018.

In a post from that time, I saw that he had visited @svale_furniture in Kichijoji, which I do business with, and described it as a great store. I was surprised to see my work in the picture.

We tend to focus only on one scene, "he bought it for me," but if we unravel the past, we can see how we met each other through our many near miss.
There is a story until then, and a story from there.
and It's a tremendous joy to know that it's there for each and every one of us.

The reason for meeting is not distance, but the proximity of what we see every day, like the feeling of being neighbors is important.

Franz also works with trees that are 400 years old.
Trees that are cut down for safety reasons are reborn as vases or flower vases and become part of our lives.
