BRITISH MADEは英国の職人による丁寧なものづくり（Craftsmanship）と、そこに込められた想いやストーリーを語り伝えていきたいというコンセプトの英国ブランドショップです。そんなBRISITH MADEのホームページ内にある「STORIES」では、ファッションだけでなく、映画、音楽、食べ物、暮らしなどイギリスにまつわる「もの」や「こと」について情報を発信してくれています。

この中のとある記事で「Easy Life」というレスター出身のバンドを知り、どハマりしてしまいました。「have a gread day」は心地よい朝に、または1日を無事終えリラックしたい夜に、もちろん休日のチルタイムにも、どんなoccasionにもぴったりな一曲です。

また、過去記事で興味深い記事をひとつ見つけました。

年会費100ポンドで探るプライベート・クラブの価値

クラス（階級）制度が未だに根強く残っていることで有名なイギリス。高額な年会費を支払うことができ、また特定の条件を満たす方だけで会員になることができるプライベート・クラブ（Private Members Clubs）が存在することは知っていましたが、こちらの記事では、なんと年会費100ポンド（約15,000円）で会員になることができる「Soho Friends」というメンバーシップ制度について紹介されています。パンデミックを機に変化したワーキングスタイルにより、コワーキングスペースとしてのプライベート・クラブの需要に繋がっていることが分かります。

ちなみにこの記事を書かれた江國まゆさんが編集長を務める、ABsolute LONDON（あぶそる〜とロンドン）というイギリスのライフスタイル・マガジンも、ユニークな視点でイギリスの暮らしを紹介しており、とても面白いです。

“日本で感じるイギリス”をコンセプトに、BRITISH MADEの運営会社である渡辺産業株式会社（WATANABE & CO, LTD.）が主催するブリティッシュマーケットがあります。毎回イギリスにまつわる様々なジャンルの専門店を集め、訪れた人がイギリスの文化、衣食住を体験できるイベントとなっています。

I would like to introduce some websites that help you get an insight into British culture and hopefully, it whets your appetite about the UK.

BRITISH MADE　

What is BRITISH MADE? British Made is a British clothing brand store telling the stories behind the craftsmanship of British artisans. One of the contents on the website, STORIES, provides information about not only British fashion but also British films, music, food and lifestyle.

I found out about a British band called 'Easy Life' in one of the articles. As soon as I heard their songs, I was gripped. The second song on the album, 'Have a great day’ can put you in a good mood and helps you have a relaxed morning or if you are feeling like unwinding after work, and of course chilling on the weekends.

I also found another interesting article from the past.

It's well known that the class system is ingrained in society in the UK even today. I know there are private members' clubs available to people who can afford to pay an expensive annual membership fee and can meet the clubs' conditions. However, the article introduces another membership called ‘Soho Friends’ which you can join for only 100 pounds annually. Due to the changes in the way we work following the pandemic, private members' clubs have become popular in co-working spaces.

The writer of this article, Mayu Ekuni, runs another website called ‘ABsolute London’. It’s about lifestyle in the UK from their unique perspective, which is interesting.

Watanabe & CO, LTD, which runs BRITISH MADE, has the British market. The concept is to get the feeling of the UK in Japan. Speciality stores from many different genres get together at the market so that people can get a taste of British life and culture.
