いつもお世話になっているLaurenとのレッスンの一部様子をご紹介します。
この時のレッスンでは、Laurenが用意してくれたサマリーを読みながら、文中で使われているいくつかのPhrasal verbsの意味や、どのように使われるのかについて詳しく教えてもらいました。

動画内で出てきた表現
(go) pear-shaped：
（計画などが）うまくいかない
to go wrong / not as planned.
"The business plan went pear-shaped because ...."
blow off steam：
（感情・ストレスなどを）発散する・息抜きをする
to get rid of stress / to help forget our stress or worries.
to be nit-picking：
ささいなこと・つまらないことにこだわる・あら探しをする
to nit-pick = to be extra picky / to be particular about something / to look extra closely for minor issues
to push on ：（困難な計画・難しいことを）押し進める
to continue (despite difficulty or fatigue) / to continue with effort (recognises that the work is tough or tiring)

Last weekend, I focussed on doing DIY, but I botched it up a bit because I bought the wrong wallpaper.
It was all going a bit pear shaped and I was kicking myself for choosing the wrong materials.
I thought I'd have to start over and redo the whole thing, so I threw a strop and sulked for a few hours.
Then I went to a jiujitsu class and blew off steam which really helped.
After that, I pulled myself together and looked at the room with fresh eyes - maybe I'd just been nit-picking?
We decided to push on with finishing the room and make do with whatever result; some rough edges are not the end of the world.
Now that it's done, I'm actually over the moon with it and I think our hard work was worth it.
All's well that ends well!
とある週末、部屋のDIYに取り組んだLaurenは、間違った壁紙を買ってしまったことでうまくいかず、自分が嫌になってしまいます。全て一からやり直さなければいけないと思うと、しばらくの間、子供のように拗ねてしまったようです。
その後、柔術の授業にいくことで息抜きができた彼女は、気を取り直してリフレッシュした状態であらためて部屋を見てました。すると「変に自分がこだわりすぎていただけかも？」と思い始め、もう結果がどうなろうと、何とか最後まで終わらせようと決めます。ついに完成した時は歓喜し、努力が報われたと感じることができました。
そして最後に彼女はこう締めくくります - "終わりよければ全てよし"。

Here is an Introduction to a Private Class on EF
I currently study English on EF mainly for speaking practice. This time, I'll introduce the highlight of one of my classes with Lauren, who is my go-to teacher on EF.
In this class, we worked on a summary that includes many phrasal verbs. And I learned the meaning of them as well as how it's used in the context. Without further ado, please have a watch.
Expressions Used in the Summary
(go) pear-shaped
