Japan lost the knockout stage to Croatia to exit from the World Cup Qatar. The team fought bravely again and was highly expected to win against Croatia when Daizen Maeda scored a goal in the first half. But Croatia was so tough that it tied the score and won on penalties.
I was impressed that the Japanese team kept running till the last minute, which cheered me up. I am proud of its superb performances. Most key players are promising and still young and will be on stage at the World Cup in North America in 2028. Meanwhile, I hope they continue to or will play in Europe to enhance their skills.
I thank them for their hard efforts and look forward to seeing them in the next World Cup in 2028.

　ワールドカップカタール大会。日本は、残念ながらクロアチアに敗れ、ベスト16で大会を終えた。クロアチア戦でも大健闘でした。前田選手が前半にゴールしたときは、クロアチアに勝てそうと期待しました。でも、クロアチアもしぶとく、同点ゴールの後、PK戦で勝ちました。
選手がボールを追いかけてひたすら走る姿には感動し、選手の皆さんには元気をいただき感謝です。主力選手はまだ若いので、2028年に開催される北米大会で活躍することでしょう。その間、選手には、これからもどんどん欧州を中心とするサッカー大国で超一流の選手と一緒にプレーをして、更に成長されることを期待します。
　改めて、選手の皆さんに感謝すると同時に、2028年の北米大会を楽しみにしています。
