I had often used the Japanese word ‘Mimicchii” when I was a child. I used it to those that were mean with money or played a cheap trick. Another word having a similar meaning to it is ‘Kechi’. Mimicchi is worse than Kechi.
 Since I became an adult, I have never used the word probably because I did not face such a terrible event. However, the word suddenly came to my mind a few days ago. I heard that the ruling parties planned to provide pensioners with five thousand yen as a special bonus. It is an election ploy, showing they look down on people. I was at a loss for words.

　みみっちい。子供の頃、この言葉をよく使いました。お金にケチな人や、小細工をするような人のことをよく「みみっちい奴」と呼んでいました。これと同じような意味の言葉に、「けち」があります。「みみっちい」は、「けち」よりたちが悪いときに使います。
　大人になってからは、この言葉を使ったことがありませんでした。この言葉に相当する出来事がなかったのだと想います。ところが、先日、この言葉が浮かんできました。与党の年金生活者に5,000円給付する案です。明らかに選挙目当ての対策です。上から目線で、国民を嘗めた政策です。開いた口が塞がりません。
