The other day, I read one of the articles by Shinjiy-san on the blog site ‘note’. It was about his wife who got ill and was in bed all day. I hope that she has felt completely well by now. At the same time, I recalled that my wife had been being stupid about ten years ago. Back then, she had just started a new job and had to commute to Tsukiji in Tokyo. But she suddenly fell ill on a Friday about a week after she began to work. She seemed to have something wrong with her belly and had pain in the belly. The pain was so bad that she had to take the day off and stayed in bed all day. She had been racked with the pain all day and could not sleep well. She also had to rush to the toilet many times a day. Nevertheless, she expected to get better as long as she stayed in bed all day, but no such luck.
The pain never went away. On the contrary, it got worse and worse, and she had to rush to the emergency hospital. Late at night, she called a taxi and rushed to the hospital. At the initial examination, no cause of the pain could be found. So, she had to stay in the hospital for a while to find the cause of the pain, while being put on a drip in the hospital. Then, she gradually began to recover from it, although the cause of the pain remained unidentified. And on the third day of the stay, she recovered from it fully as the pain went away. So, she was in full energy and began to say that she would leave the hospital without being discharged by her doctor. She was told by her doctor not to allow her to leave the hospital as no cause of the pain had been found yet. But she refused to stay at the hospital. At last, she forcibly left the hospital and came back home.
When she came back home, I was surprised to hear the whole story from her. But considering her nature, it was not surprising. She has a strong will, and no one can stop her once she has made up her mind.

　先日、Shinjiyさんの記事を読んで、奥様が体調を崩して一日中寝込んでいらっしゃったことを知りました。もうすっかり元気になられたと思います。と同時に、10年ほど前、妻がバカなことをしでかしたのを思い出しました。当時、妻は新しい仕事に就いたばかりで、東京の築地に通っていました。でも、働き始めて1週間ほど経った金曜日に突然体調を崩しました。お腹の調子が悪く、痛かったのです。あまりの痛みにその日は休みを取り、一日中ベッドにいました。一日中痛みに見まわれ、よく眠れませんでした。また、1日に何度もトイレに駆け込まなければなりませんでした。それでも、一日中ベッドにいれば治るだろうと期待していたのですが、そうはいきませんでした。
　痛みが消えることはありませんでした。それどころか、痛みはますますひどくなり、救急病院に駆け込まなければならなかったのです。深夜に、タクシーを呼んで病院に駆け込みました。初診では、痛みの原因がわかりませんでした。そのため、痛みの原因を究明するために、しばらく入院することになりました。その間、病院では点滴を受けていました。そしたら、痛みの原因は不明のままなのですが、徐々に回復してきました。そして、入院3日目には痛みが消え、完全に回復しました。そしたら、妻は、すっかり元気になり、主治医の退院許可が下りないまま退院すると言い始めたのです。彼女は主治医から、まだ痛みの原因が見つかっていないのだから退院させられないと言われました。でも、妻は入院を拒否し、強引に退院して、家に帰ってきました。
　帰宅後、ことの顛末を聞かされ驚きました。でも、妻の性格を考えれば、不思議ではなかったです。妻は気が強く、一度決めたことは誰にも止められません。
