A few days ago, I had the chance to see my lovely granddaughter. She came to my home and stayed for about five hours. It had been a few months since I had last seen her. During her stay, I had been with her the whole time. Unfortunately, I had few things I could do for her as I hurt my knee so badly that I could not walk without a cane. Nevertheless, I enjoyed being with her very much. She spent much of her time on a thick carpet while I was on a sofa. Then, she surprised me by rolling over in her sleep. When she came to my home before, she just lay quietly on the carpet and could not roll over at all. That granddaughter showed me her significant change. She kept rolling over and seemed to enjoy it. I could also hold her on my lap for the first time since she was born. In the beginning, I was a little worried about her being able to stay on my lap. But it was an unnecessary worry. She seemed very comfortable on my lap and stayed longer than I expected. It was really a great time for me and she did me a lot of good with my injured knee.
It was thanks to my wife’s hard efforts that I could have such a great time. She was asked by my daughter to look after the granddaughter because of their moving. She was pleased to accept it. On the moving day, my wife got up early and went to my daughter's old flat to pick up and bring the granddaughter to our home. Even after she came back, she was busy looking after the baby. She had to give milk to the baby and took pictures of the granddaughter with Hina dolls. Then, she had to take the baby to my daughter's new flat. It must have been hard work for my wife and I really appreciate her hard work that gave me the chance.

数日前、かわいい孫娘に会う機会がありました。孫は、我が家に来て、5時間ほどいました。孫に会えたのは数カ月ぶりです。この間、ボクはずっと孫と一緒にいました。残念ながら、膝を怪我して杖なしでは歩けない状態だったため、孫にしてやれることはほとんどありませんでした。それでも、孫と一緒にいて楽しめました。ボクがソファに座っていたのですが、孫は大半の時間をその側のぶ厚いカーペットで過ごしていました。びっくりしたのは、孫が寝返りをうったことです。前回来た時は、ただ静かにカーペットの上に横たわっていただけで、寝返りはうてませんでした。その孫が大変身を見せてくれました。寝返りを何度もうち、楽しそうでした。また、生まれて初めて孫を膝の上に乗せることができました。始めは、膝の上に乗れるかどうか少し心配だったのですが、取り越し苦労でした。ボクの膝の上がとても心地よかったようで、思ったよりも長くいてくれました。ボクにとっては本当に素晴らしい時間でした。また、膝を痛めているボクを癒してくれました。
こんなに楽しい時間を過ごせたのは、妻の努力のおかげです。妻は娘から、引っ越しするので孫の面倒を見てほしいと頼まれ、妻は喜んで引き受けました。引っ越し当日、妻は早起きして娘のマンションまで孫娘を迎えに行き、我が家に連れてきました。帰ってきてからも赤ん坊の世話で忙しく、ミルクを飲ませたり、雛人形と一緒に写真を撮ったりしていました。そして、娘の新しいマンションに孫を連れて帰らなければなりませんでした。妻にとってはすごく大変だったと思います。彼女のおかげで、こんな機会を得られたことに感謝です。
