I had trouble with a wine opener. It happened just an hour before my daughter and son-in-law came to my house. I tried to open a bottle of rose wine I had bought beforehand. It needed me to use a new wine opener to pull the cork. But it was the one with a strange shape I had never used. It confused me since I did not know how to use it. For now, I attempted to twist the worm into the cork, but it did not work. I tried it repeatedly but failed to find how to use it. I asked for my wife’s help. Neither did she. While we were struggling with the opener, it was time for my daughter and her partner to reach my house. So, we gave it up, and I rushed to shop for another wine opener.
Probably, it must be the one we bought in Europe many years ago. It was surprising that we still had the old one.

ワインのコルク抜きでトラブルが発生しました。娘夫婦が帰省する1時間前のことでした。事前に買っておいたロゼワインを開けようと、新しいコルク抜き出してきました。ところが、今までに使ったことのない変な形状のもので、使い方が分からず戸惑いました。とりあえず、スクリューの部分をコルクに差したのですが、入っていかないのです。その後も何度も挑戦しましたがうまくいきません。仕方ないので、妻に助けを求めました。でも、うまくいきませんでした。そうこうしているうちに、娘夫婦が到着する時間が近づいてきたので、埒があかないと判断して、近くの店にオープナーを買いに行くことにしました。
このコルク抜きは多分、大昔にに欧州で買ったのだと思います。それが、いまだに家にあるとは驚きでした。
