「世界の文化は、まるで花の蜜を吸う蝶🦋のように、各地にて影響しあい、美しい文化の花を咲かせるの」。そう教えて下さったのは、大の親日家でお茶を愛する前ヨルダン大使夫人のマダム・シーファでした。

古来中国で、竜門という急流を登った鯉は龍になるとされ（登竜門）、出世魚として親しまれたことから意匠となった、こちらの荒磯緞子。

厚地で光沢のある高級な織物として知られる裂地「緞子（どんす）」。茶道では、やきもののお茶入に着せる仕覆などが有名ですが、その語源は、遠くシルクロードを渡ってきた、イスラムの「ダマスク」にあるそうです。

文化とは、ある集団が持つ固有の様式のこと。民族や地域に伝わる信仰とも密接です。

侵略、征服…。
力づくで相手の文化を支配することと、

和敬、協調、友愛で
お互いの文化を認め合い、理解を深めることとでは、

導かれる世界に天と地の違いが生まれることを歴史が示してくれていると思うのですが…。

昨今の情勢には心痛めることが多いですね。

共感が生むものとは何か。
海の向こう側から受けてきた影響と、それらに出逢った先人たちの柔らかい感受性。
お茶道具ひとつとっても、想像が膨らみ、心の深呼吸につながります。

Some of the famous Japanese vintage patterns are said to be influenced by Mideast techniques. It has reached to the east-end island -Japan, through Silk Road a thousand years ago and preserved as art until today. This is a tea container we use for #chado with a damask pouch “araiso.” The pattern of uprising #koi swimming in waves is a charm for good luck and success.

Which is wiser, to conquest someone’s culture with power or to accept it as new idea? Which choice will lead us to a better world, to step back in old discriminative overview or move forward with heartfelt understanding and innovative perspective? Some important hints can be found in Japanese art. History shows us the answer.
