オリーブ （OLIVE)


シソ目、モクセイ科、オリーブ属の植物。


旧約聖書の『創世記』の中の、６〜９章の中に
登場するのが『ノアの方舟』の物語。

大洪水が地上を覆い、全ての大地が海の水底に
沈んでしまったノアの方舟で、４０日が経った
その時に鳩を放つ。

最初の鳩は、何の変化もなく戻ってきたのだが
二度目に放った鳩がその嘴に咥えもどってくる。
この葉こそが、オリーブの葉であった。

オリーブの葉は、洪水の終息と、大地の復活の
両方を知らせてくれた植物として平和の象徴を
意味するもの。

オリーブの枝を差し出す行為は、平和への和解
への意思表明となったのである。

空を見上げるとオリーブの大樹の葉が茂ってて
とても美しい。

Olive (OLIVE)

Olive is a plant of the order Lamiales, family Oleaceae, and genus Olea.

In the story of Noah's Ark in the Book of Genesis chapters 6 to 9 of the Old Testament, it appears that Noah releases a dove after 40 days on the ark when the great flood covered the earth and all the land sank beneath the waters of the sea.

The first dove returned without any change, but the second dove returned with an olive leaf in its beak, signaling the end of the flood and the revival of the earth. The olive leaf became a symbol of peace, representing both the cessation of the flood and the rebirth of the earth.

Extending an olive branch became a gesture of reconciliation and a declaration of intent towards peace.

Looking up at the sky, one can see the lush leaves of the olive tree, which is very beautiful.
