Episode 43 良い仕入とは?

Introduction:
"Hello. Welcome to my English learning podcast. Today's theme is ' What is a Good Procurement ' We will be looking into the concept of procurement in business to think about what makes for a great deal.

Small Discussion Question 1:
"Let's start with our first question: What is a good procurement for businesses?

Sample Answer 1:
Personally, I believe that the definition of a good procurement varies depending on the industry. In the furniture industry, for example, it's crucial to align purchases with your shop concept. Similarly, in the restaurant business, the freshness of produce like vegetables and fish is crucial. Ultimately, it's about ensuring availability and suitability for your specific needs."

Small Discussion Question 2:
What is a good procurement in terms of finance?

Sample Answer 2:
From a financial perspective, procurement has a significant impact. It's crucial to consider liquidity and cash flow, as you can't receive money until the product is sold. So, it's beneficial to delay payment for purchases until after receiving payment from customers. This is particularly relevant in overseas trade, where shipment needs extended period of time.

Now let’s move on to the Vocabulary section.

Firstly, we have the word 'procurement(仕入・調達).' Procurement refers to the process of obtaining goods, services, or resources, often through purchasing. For example, “The company's procurement department is responsible for sourcing materials for production.”

Our next term is 'liquidity(流動性).' Liquidity refers to the degree to which an asset or investment can be quickly converted into cash. In simpler terms, the more you have liquidity, the more you are abundant in cash. For instance, “Having a considerable amount of cash and deposits enhances your liquidity.”

Moving on, we have the term 'suitability(適合性).' Suitability refers to how well something fits a particular purpose or situation. For example, “Before recommending an investment strategy, financial advisors assess its suitability based on the client's risk tolerance and financial goals.”

Now, let's explore the word 'projection(予測).' A projection is an estimate or forecast of future trends, outcomes, or results based on current data or assumptions. For instance, “The economic projection suggests a gradual recovery in the housing market over the next few years.”

Lastly, we have the phrase 'extended period of time(長くかかる時間).' This refers to a duration that is longer than usual or anticipated. For example, “The project was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, resulting in an extended period of time to complete it.”

Conclusion:
Okay. Let’s call it a day today. Hope your deal goes smoothly today! Until next time!
