鳥山明さんが亡くなられて約2週間。子供の頃に好きだったものはドラゴンボールとドラゴンクエスト。鳥山明さんの絵が好きだった事がいちばんの要素でした。

ドラゴンボールは地球に攻めてくる敵が常に主人公より強く、主人公は仲間たちと力を合わせて勝つという「組織の力」を常に見せてくれました。

日本チームや日本企業が世界で戦い、生き残っていくための組織のあり方の縮図でもあったと思います。

最初は亡くなられた実感がなかったのですが、下記に添付した映像のように海外で鳥山明さんを追悼するコンテンツが今もなお溢れ続けている事を見て、やはり鳥山明さんは亡くなられたんだなと悲しい思いです。海外に出て17年、ドラゴンボールを持つ国に育った事をどれだけ誇りに感じたことか。

実は私は霊感が割と強いみたいで、こんな事がよくあります。鳥山明さんが亡くなったとニュースが出る前の数日間、何故か急に様々なところで鳥山明さんを思い出す事がありました。例えば手塚治虫さんが鳥山明さんを自分の後継者である事を話していた記事を初めて目にしたり、私の部下とドラゴンボールやドクタースランプの話を会社でしていました。普段はそのような事を話す事はなかったので、翌日に鳥山明さんが亡くなったというニュースを聞いた時、私は言葉が出ませんでした。

鳥山明さん、ありがとうございました。

It's been about two weeks since the passing of Akira Toriyama. As a child, my favorites were Dragon Ball and Dragon Quest, primarily because I loved Akira Toriyama's artwork the most.

Dragon Ball always showed the "power of teamwork" as the Earth was frequently attacked by enemies stronger than the protagonist, who would then unite with his friends to overcome them.

I believe it also reflected a model for Japanese teams and companies fighting and surviving on the global stage.

At first, I didn't fully grasp the reality of his passing, but seeing the continuous outpouring of tributes to Akira Toriyama from around the world, like below video, has truly saddened me. Having lived abroad for 17 years, I've felt immense pride in being from the country that brought Dragon Ball to the world.

Interestingly, I seem to have a fairly strong sixth sense, and often experience peculiar coincidences. For example, in the days before the news of Akira Toriyama's death was announced, I found myself randomly remembering him in various situations. I came across an article for the first time talking about how Osamu Tezuka considered Toriyama his successor, and I found myself discussing Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump with my colleagues at work, something we normally never talk about. So, when I heard the news of his death the next day, I was at a loss for words.
