十月の京都
日に日に日の出が遅く、日の入りが早くなりました。時刻が早くなっただけでなく、薄明るい時間が短くすぐ暗くなり「秋の釣瓶落し」ですね。気温も下がり、暑い暑いと言っていたのがうそのようです。
10月15日は上賀茂神社の「かさがけ」の神事がありました。勇壮な馬上での弓術で的に矢が当った時は歓声があがります。
10月22日は、日本中で知られている時代祭のほか、鞍馬の火祭（由岐神社）、嵯峨大念佛狂言（清凉寺が舞台の「百萬」を清凉寺で公演！素敵～）もあります。時代祭は明治から、鞍馬の火祭は平安時代から、嵯峨大念佛狂言は鎌倉時代から、始まったそうです。
そろそろ紅葉シーズン。京都の名所は、東京渋谷のハロウィンの日のスクランブル交差点のごときになります。。。
October in Kyoto 2023
The sunrises are getting later and the sunsets are earlier day by day. Not only has the time shifted, but the twilight hours have become shorter, and it gets dark quickly, resembling the fast sinking bucket into the well. The temperature has also dropped, and it seems the days of sweltering heat have passed.
On October 15th, there was the "Kasagake" ritual at Kamigamo Shrine, featuring impressive horseback archery with cheers erupting when the arrows hit the target.
On October 22nd, there are Jidai Matsuri festival well-known all across Japan, Kurama Fire Festival at Yuki Shrine, and Saga DaiNembutsu Kyogen (both of the venue and the setting of the performance "Hyakuman" are Seiryo-ji Temple. What a cultually rich event).
The Jidai Matsuri Festival has been celebrated since the Meiji era, the Kurama Fire Festival since the Heian era, and Saga DaiNembutsu Kyogen since the Kamakura era.
It's almost time for the autumn leaves season. Kyoto's famous spots will be as crowded as Tokyo's Shibuya Scramble Crossing on Halloween day.
