Next morning、Bready was sitting in his kitchen.
He picked up a peanut, put it on a rock table, and crushed it into small pieces.
次の朝、ブレディは台所ですわっていました。
ピーナツを一つとりだして、岩のテーブルにおきました。そして、小さくつぶしました。

Bready was walking through the woods, feeling as if he was going to take a big test.
"Tweet-tweet"
There came Ucon, flying so fast toward Bready.
ブレディは大きなテストを受けにいくような気持ちで、森を歩いていました。
チチッ
ユーコンが現れて、ブレディに向かって、すごい速さで飛んできました。

There was no choice of cutting down on the amount of food little by little, as Bready knew he had already given too much.
He had no idea what food, how often and how much he could give.
He timidly took out one piece of the crushed peanut out of his bag.
少しずつ食べ物を少なくすることは出来ませんでした。なぜならすでにあげすぎていたからです。
そして、ほんとうは何を、どのくらい、何回あげたらいいのかが、ブレディには全くわかりませんでした。
つぶしたピーナッツをひとかけら、おそるおそる出しました。

Bready got upset, as Ucon ate the first piece of the peanut much more quickly than he had expected.
“Oh, You’ve finished already? Then I’m gonna get you the next one in 10 seconds! One, Twoooooo, Threeeeee.."
Bready decided to extend the mealtime by talking and moving as slowly as possible. Ucon looked blank.
ユーコンが予想以上にはやくピーナッツを食べ終わったので、ブレディはあせりました。
「あ、もう食べちゃったの？それじゃ、次のをあげるよ。１０秒で出てくるよ！　い-ち、に、さーん、」
ゆっくり話してゆっくり動くことで、食事の時間を長くすることにしました。ユーコンはきょとんとしていました。

Ucon quickly ate up all the remaining peanut, and then sat on Bready's hand and bent down its head low.
(What do you mean? You want more？）
Beady got upset again.
ユーコンはすぐに残りのピーナッツを食べてしまいました。そしてブレディの手にちょこんとのって、頭を下げました。
（どういう意味？もっとほしいってこと？）
ブレディは、またあせりました。

”I'm sorry, there is no more peanut. I am very sorry for having given you too much food."Bready apologized again and again, gently stroking Ucon's head. Ucon looked pretty cozy with its eyes half-closed. Bready was relieved."Everytime I see you, you look kawaii. Do you ever get angry?"「ごめんね、ピーナッツはもうないんだ。いままであげすぎてしまって、ごめんね。」ブレディはユーコンのあたまをやさしくなでながら、何度もあやまりました。ユーコンは半分目をとじて、気持ちよさそうにしています。ブレディはほっとしました。「いつ見てもかわいいね。きみは怒ることがあるの？」

Bready was remembering his joyful days with Ucon.when they met for the first timewhen they swang a swingfood lotteryEven the stupid things are happy memories.
ブレディは、ユーコンとの幸せな日々を思い出していました。はじめて会ったときのこといっしょにブランコをしたことくじ引きをしたことばかなことすらも、楽しい思い出です。

Bready wanted to keep Ucon forever, but now he knew what he had to do.”Ucon, I think you're overweight. You need more exercise."
ブレディはずっとユーコンを手にのせておきたいと思いました。でも、するべきことは、もうわかっていました。「ユーコン、太りすぎじゃないの？もっと運動しないと。」

"Here." Realeased from Bready's hand, Ucon flew away like a mosquito filled with blood. (You were flying so fast when you came.) Bready's belly shook with laughter."Uuuuuuuuucoooooooon!" He shouted, in his mind.
「ほら。」ユーコンはブレディの手からはなれ、血でパンパンになった蚊のように飛んでいきました。（来るときは、あんなに速く飛んでいたのに。。。）ブレディはお腹をゆらして笑いました。そして、こころの中で、叫びました。「ユーーーーコーーーン！」

(How much fun it will be to share this feeling with others!)Bready thought for a while, and went up the woods carrying an axe. He found a thick tree and tried to cut down, but it was not easy at all.　"Do you need a hand？” He heard someone say.
（この気持ちをだれかと分かち合えたら）ブレディはしばらく考えていました。そして、おのを持って森をのぼっていきました。太い木を見つけて、切りたおそうとしました。しかし、それは簡単なことではありませんでした。「手伝いましょうか？」　だれかの声がしました。

He was a woodman. “I want to cut down this tree.” “That thick tree?" "Yes. I need flat boards for painting.” “I have leftovers. I’ll give you some.” The woodman brought various kinds of boards to Bready. "Thank you very much!" "Please feel free to let me know if you need more." Woodman soon went away.
その人は、この島に住むウッドマンでした。「この木を切りたおしたいんです。」「その太い木ですか？」「はい。絵を描くための板がほしいんです。」「それならいらない板があるので、わけてあげましょう。」　きこりさんはいろんな板を持ってきてくれました。「どうもありがとう。」「足りなくなったら遠慮なく言ってください。」ウッドマンは、すぐに帰っていきました。

Next day, Bready was watching Ucon eat peanut from as close as possible.
次の日、ブレディはピーナッツを食べるユーコンを出来るだけ近くで見ていました。

After that, Bready pretended to go back saying, "I'm busy today. Bye for now," then continued to watch Ucon secretly from far away, and drew a picture.
そのあとブレディは「今日は忙しいんだ。またね。」と言って、帰るふりをしました。そして、今度は遠くからこっそりユーコンを見ていました。それから絵を描きました。

Luke had been taking a walk when he saw Bready. "Drawing bread?" "I'm drawing my favorite little bird." "Unusual for you." Luke looked into the picture and said, "Wow, kawaii! Would you be able to give me one of your bird pictures?"
"You want my work?" Bready said with his eyes wide open, as that was his first time to be praised as such.
"What color is it?" "Yellow. I'll give you a colored one."
散歩していたルークが話しかけてきました。「やあ、パンを描いてるの？」「ボクの大好きな小鳥を描いてるんだ。」「めずらしいね。」ルークは絵をのぞきこんで言いました。「わあ、かわいい！できたら鳥の絵を一枚くれないかな。」
「ボクの作品がほしいの？」ブレディは、目を丸くして言いました。自分の絵をこんなにほめられたのは、はじめてのことだったからです。「この鳥は、何色なの？」「黄色だよ。色を塗ったのをあげるね。」

Now Bready was stumped. Being so happy to be praised, he promised to give Luke a colored picture, but had only brown paint.(Where can I get yellow one? Can I make it?) Always drawing, he knew little about coloring materials.
ブレディはいま、困っていました。うれしくて、つい色を塗ってあげると約束してしまいましたが、持っていたのは茶色の絵の具だけでした。（黄色の絵の具は、どこにあるのかな？つくれるのかな？）いつも線を描いていたブレディは、絵の具のことをよく知りませんでした。

（What is yellow and easy to find?) Bready thought, and soon he found beautiful yellow flowers.
（見つけやすい黄色いものって何かな？）ブレディは考えました。そしてすぐに、美しい黄色の花を見つけました。

Under a calm sky with a gentle breeze, Bready lay down on the grass after picking some flowers."Feel so good!", he murmured, and soon fell asleep.
ぽかぽか空とそよ風のなかで、ブレディは少し花をつみ、そして草の上でゴロンと横になりました。（気持ちいいなーーーーーー。）そうつぶやいた後で、ブレディはすぐに寝てしまいました。

Ucon showed up in Bready's dream.”You shine more brightly than the sun, ”Bready said.
ゆめの中でユーコンが現れました。「きみは太陽よりピカピカしているね。」ブレディは言いました。

And you are sweeter than a banana...
そしてきみは、バナナより甘い。

In Bready's dream, he made a toast with Ucon to their bright future again and again with peanuts.
夢の中で、ユーコンとブレディは、ピーナッツをくっつけあって、ふたりの明るい未来に何度も乾杯しました。

Bready was still dreaming. Ucon was swimming alone in a pond.
ブレディはまだ夢を見ていました。ユーコンは池で、ひとりぼっちで泳いでいました。

(If I had not given you too much food, you would not have such a dream..)
（もしボクが、たくさん食べ物をあげていなければ、こんなこと夢見なかったのに）

"A bird is eating up your breadcrumbs. Mark the trees with this stone."「鳥がパンを食べちゃっているよ。この石で木にマークをつけて。」

"Wake up Ucon. Wake up, or you"ll be late!"
"It's you who should wake up, Bready." said Ucon.
「ユーコン、起きて！遅くなっちゃうよ！」
「キミこそ起きなよ。」ユーコンが言いました。

Ants were walking around on Bready's body when he woke up. It was already getting dark.  "Oh, I should pick flowers!"

目を覚ますと、ブレディのからだの上でアリが歩き回っていました。あたりは暗くなりはじめていました。「あっ、花をつまなくちゃ！」
