Bready wanted to go back home as soon as possible but it was not easy to walk holding a lot of yellow flowers with his small hands. Besides, he could not see in front of him well.
Finally, he tumbled over a stone.

ブレディは出来るだけ早く家に帰ろうとしていましたが、たくさんの花を小さな手でかかえながら歩くことは、簡単ではありませんでした。そして、前もよく見えません。
ついに石につまづいて、ころんでしまいました。

Just then, Hand came down from the hills, and found Bready.
"Are you all right? Do you need a hand?" he said.

ちょうどその時、ハンドが丘から下りてきました。
ハンドはブレディを見つけて言いました。
「大丈夫？手を貸してあげようか？」

Hand's magic hand carried the flowers instead of Bready.
"It's awesome you have the hands."
"Not really. Every time people approach me, I feel like they need my hands but not me," Hand said sadly.
"I'm sorry to have used your hand." "No problem at all. I feel happy when I can help people in trouble at my own will." "Thank you very much."

ハンドは魔法の手を使って花を運んでくれました。「こんな便利が手があるなんて、最高だね。」
「そうでもないよ。誰かが近づいてくるたびに、ボクに会いたいんじゃなくて、この手を使いたいんだろう？って思っちゃって、逃げたくなるんだ。」ハンドはさみしそうに言いました。
「ごめんね、きみの手を使ってしまって。」「ぜんぜん問題ないよ。困っている人を自分で助ける時は、しあわせな気持ちになるんだ。」「どうもありがとう。」

Next morning, Bready was wondering what paint was like in his head.
(I can make it by crushing petals and blending them with water, probably?)
Then he crushed the petals with a stone.

次の朝、ブレディは頭の中で考えていました。
（絵の具ってどんなものだっけ？花びらをつぶして水とまぜるとできるのかな？たぶん。）
そして、石を使って花びらをつぶしてみました。

Bready patiently mixed the water with crushed petals, but the mixture was watery and similar to juice.
（This is odd. Perhaps I need more petals. ）
Then he added more petals, but what he got was still far from paint.

ブレディは根気よくつぶした花びらとお水を混ぜましたが、できたものはサラサラで、ジュースのようでした。
（おかしいなあ。絵の具みたいにならないな。花びらが足りないのかな。）
しかし、いくら花びらを混ぜても、ぜんぜん絵の具のようになりませんでした。

(How can I make paint?)
Bready was thinking, lying down on the beach.
（絵の具はどうやってつくるんだろう）
ブレディは、海辺でごろんと横になって考えていました。

It was not easy to find the way to make paint, as Bready was alone and had no books.  He had no choice but to try everything that came to his mind.
ブレディは、いつもひとりでいるし、本も持っていません。だから、絵の具の作り方を見つけ出すのは大変なことでした。
仕方がないので、思いついたことを全部試してみようと思いました。
