ちょっと意味が多いので英英辞典で調べましょう。

　（将来のイベント）を整理または計画します

３　adapt (a composition) for performance with instruments or voices other than those originally specified.
　最初に指定されたもの以外の楽器や声での演奏に適応（作曲）します。

１　日本語で「アレンジ」って「自分の感覚でいろいろ変えちゃう！」みたいな印象があるのですが（髪型をおしゃれにアレンジ！）英語では、put（置く）こと限定なんですね。

２　将来のイベントを計画するってあまり（みんなの思っている）アレンジ感ないですが、今回の文脈では２の意味で使われています。

３　音楽に詳しい人なら「アレンジャー」なんて言葉聞いたことありますよね？

久美子の失踪について、綿谷昇のエージェントである牛川経由で話し合ってインターネットを通じて話すことをアレンジ（計画）しました。彼女を確認する手段としてクラゲの思い出を使いました。

最初のデートでみたクラゲの思い出を知っていることで、インターネット越しの相手が久美子だと確認できたんですね。インターネット越しの対面ってスカイプみたいなものを想像してしまいますが、当時は文章でのチャットしたということです。

１　文字を書くことをスペルと言うんですね。日本語だと「英単語のつづり」を名詞として「スペル」と言いますよね。あれは和製英語なんですね。

２　これまた意外な使い方。

３　魔力的なものは「spell」なんですね。今回はこちらの意味が使われています。
