朱塀が本堂を照らす灯に The vermilion fence illuminates the main hall
蓮華王院の本堂(三十三間堂)の正面は東側である。本堂を囲み南大門そして北門がある。東側には朱に塗られた山門(朱門)がある。七条通りから朱門は見ることはできないが、荘厳な神門としてひときわ目を惹いた。
The front of the main hall (Sanjusangendo) of Rengeoin is on the east side. Surrounding the main hall are the Nandaimon(South Gate) and the North Gate. On the east side is the sanmon (vermilion gate) painted in vermilion. You can not see the Shinmon from Shichijo-dori, but it stands out as a majestic shrine.
境内側は、朱門(塀)はすべて朱に塗られた廻廊になっている。廻廊の朱色が本堂を照らす灯りのように思える。夜のとばりが下りるころは趣のある風景に変わる。
Inside the precincts, the vermilion gate (fence) is a corridor painted in vermilion. The vermilion color of the corridor seems to be the light that illuminates the main hall. By the time the night falls, it turns into a quaint landscape.
