建仁寺。好きなお寺の一つである。
気が向いたときに気軽に参拝できる場所にある。四条通り花見小路を南に下ったところ。花街を散策しながらだから楽しい。

Enchanted by the mysterious view of Kennin-ji Temple . 

It is one of my favorite temples. It is in a place where you can easily worship when you feel like it. Down the Hanamikoji on Shijo-dori to the south. It's fun because I'm walking around the Hanamachi.

建仁寺は臨済宗の禅寺である。1202年将軍源頼家が寺域を寄進し栄西禅師が開山したお寺である。

Kennin-ji is a Zen temple of the Rinzai sect. In 1202, Shogun Minamoto no Yoriie donated the temple area and Eisai Zenshi opened the temple. 

建仁寺の魅力は、言うまでもないが禅寺特有の静寂さに銘庭や海北友松の襖絵や俵屋宗達の屏風、そして天井双雲図が身近に楽しめる。日本文化の贅を尽くした最高の空間である。

Needless to say, the charm of Kennin-ji is that you can enjoy the quietness peculiar to Zen temples, the fusuma paintings of Kaiho Yusho, the folding screens of Tawaraya Sotatsu, and the ceiling twin clouds. It is the best space with the luxury of Japanese culture.

今回もまず目を引いたのが「風神雷神図屏風」。何回みても美しい。本物は京都国立博物館に寄託されているが、レプリカではあるが、俵屋宗達の最高傑作として堪能できる。

The first thing that caught my eye this time was the "Fujin Raijin Folding Screen". Beautiful no matter how many times you see it. The real thing has been deposited at the Kyoto National Museum, and although it is a replica, it can be enjoyed as the masterpiece of Tawaraya Sotatsu.

特に、潮音の庭を通して眺める風神雷神屏風は妙景である。少しの間でもここに身を置けることは命の洗浄になるような気がする。

In particular, the wind god and thunder god folding screen seen through the garden of the sea sound is a strange view. I feel that being able to stay here even for a short time is a wash of life.

また、法堂(はっとう)の天井画「双龍図」にはいつもながら圧倒される。安置される釈迦如来像を守るために天井から睨みをきかせている。
平成14年（2002）に建仁寺創建800年を記念して、日本画家の小泉淳作氏が約2年の歳月をかけて取り組んだ壮大な作品。2頭の龍が互いに絡みあうように「阿吽」の双龍が描かれている。

Also, as always, I am overwhelmed by the ceiling painting "Ssangyongzu" of Hatto. He is glaring from the ceiling to protect the enshrined Shaka Nyorai statue. A magnificent work that Japanese-style painter Junsaku Koizumi worked on for about two years to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the founding of Kennin-ji Temple in 2002. The Ssangyong of "Aun" is drawn so that the two dragons are intertwined with each other.
