蓮は、泥水を吸い上げながらも美しい花を咲かせる様子が清らかに生きる象徴だと称される。
人の手が入らない命の循環の美しさを楽しませてくれる。生きる象徴物に例えると、慈悲なる美的対象物になるが、ご存じのとおり、水面下の茎は野菜の蓮根である。

The lotus is said to be a symbol of a pure life in which beautiful flowers bloom while absorbing muddy water.
It will entertain you with the beauty of the cycle of life that humans can not afford. If you compare it to a living symbol, it is a merciless aesthetic object. But as you know, the stem under the water is the lotus root of vegetables.

写真にあるのは、3年前、兵庫県加古川市に行った際に、移動中に見た蓮である。降りてみると、今までに見たこもない蓮畑が一面に広がっていた。蓮は、若草色の葉っぱの間から顔を出す淡いピンクの花が葉とのコントラストに映えていた。茎の下や根は泥の中に埋まっている。泥水を吸い上げながら可憐で美しい花を咲かせる。このアンバランスが絶妙に美的対象物になる。

The photo shows a lotus I saw on the move when I went to Kakogawa City, Hyogo Prefecture 3 years ago. When I got off, there was a lot of lotus fields that I had never seen before. The lotus had a pale pink flower that emerged from among the greenish-colored leaves in contrast with the leaves. Under the stem and roots are buried in the mud. It blooms pretty and beautiful flowers while sucking muddy water. This imbalance is exquisitely an aesthetic object.

仏教では慈悲の象徴とされ、死後の極楽浄土に咲く花とされている。そのためか、如来座像の台座や飾り物にも蓮の花が彫られている。
蓮を眺めているとなぜか穏やかな気持ちになれるのが不思議である。

According to Buddhism, it is a symbol of compassion, and it is said to be a flower that blooms in the paradise of paradise after death. Perhaps because of this, lotus flowers are also carved on the pedestal and ornaments of the statue of Nyorai.
It is strange that when l look at the lotus, l feel calm for some reason.
