2016年の11月25日付の神戸新聞夕刊トップに「銀幕の華 神戸満喫」という大見出しが躍っていた。だれのことかとよく見ると、写真に「マリリン・モンロー」が芸者さんたちと笑顔で写っている。小見出しには、「60年前の秘蔵写真を初展示」と書かれている。

神戸新聞によると、あの米国ハリウッドの大女優、故マリリン・モンローさんが62年前に米国大リーガーのジョー・ディマジオさんと2度目の結婚のときに新婚旅行で東京、大阪、神戸を訪れた。そのとき、神戸の花街(当時)だった花隈の料亭で芸者さんに接待されながら喜んでいる秘蔵写真が神戸市中央区の「モダン寺」で27日(日)、初めて展示される、ということで話題になった。
