今日は「端午の節句」。男の子の健やかな成長を祈願する日である。
毎年、私の地元の川にも多くの「鯉のぼり」がたなびく様子を見てきた。しかしながら、緊急事態宣言中なのか、今年は天に舞う姿はなかった。
写真は、昨年、その川に掛けられた鯉のぼりの様子であるが、風が通る道にたなびく姿は、天に向かって昇る龍のように見える。

Today is "Tango no Setsuku Festival". It is the day to pray for the healthy growth of the boy.
Every year, I saw many “carp streamers” fluttering in the ocal river of my neighborhood. But due to the declaration of an emergency, and this year there was no figure in the sky.
The photo shows a carp streamer hanging on the river of last year, but the shape of the stream flowing through the wind looks like a dragon rising toward heaven.

では、なぜ、端午の節句に鯉のぼりを飾る風習については諸説あるようだが、やはり有力説は中国の故事に習ったことが始まりのようである。激しい滝を登る鯉が龍となって天に登った「登竜門」という伝説の中から引用されたようである。また、鯉は清流のだけではなく、沼でも池でも生きられる生命力の強い魚ということも大きな理由なのかもしれない。

Then, where the custom of carp streamer decoration in the festival of Tango-no-Setsuku came? There seem to be various theories, but the prevailing theory seems to be the beginning of what was learned from the Chinese incident. It seems that it was quoted from the legend called "Dragon Gate" that a carp climbing a fierce waterfall became a dragon and climbed to sky. Another reason may be that carp is not only a clear stream, but a fish with strong vitality that can live in swamps and ponds.

残念ながら、今年は見ることはできないが、男の子をもつ家庭では、これからの成長を楽しみにお祝いをされていることだろう。

Unfortunately, we can not see the carp streamers this year, but a family with boys will probably be celebrating for their future.
