建仁寺は、障壁画(襖絵)や天井画において雲龍図づくしの寺院である。それを目当てに訪れる人が多い。方丈の襖絵(八面)は、安土桃山時代に活躍した絵師、海北友松の「雲龍図」。

Kennin-ji is a temple with a wall painting (fusuma painting) and a ceiling painting. Many people come for it. Hojo's fusuma painting (eight sides) is "Unryu-zu" by Kaiho Yusho, a painter who was active during the Azuchi-Momoyama period. 

本物は京都国立博物館に所蔵されているが、文化財未来継承プロジェクトの高度技術によって再現され、本物と変わらぬ作品が方丈に設置されている。

The real thing is in the Kyoto National Museum, but it is reproduced by the advanced technology of the Cultural Properties Future Succession Project, and works that are the same as the real thing are installed in Hojo.

訪れるたびに雲龍図を紹介しているが、その都度、違って見えるから不思議である。画は変わらないのだが、見る側の、そのときの意識や感情が異なると対峙したときに変化が生じるように思う。

I introduce it every time I visit, but it's strange because it looks different each time. The picture does not change, but I think that changes will occur when the viewer confronts different consciousness and emotions at that time.

          方丈の襖絵(八面)の雲龍図 / Hojo's fusuma painting (eight sides)

雲龍襖図と同じように、訪れる人を虜にする画が、法堂の天井画「阿吽の双龍図」である。天井画としては最大級の作品で、二頭の龍が重なりあって本尊である釈迦如来像を守り続けている。この作品は、8年前に日本画の小泉淳作氏が2年がかりで描かれた大作である。

Similar to the Unryu Fusuma map, the painting that captivates visitors is the ceiling painting of the temple, "Aun's Ssangyong map." It is one of the largest ceiling paintings, and two dragons overlap to protect the statue of Shaka Nyorai, the principal idol. This work is a masterpiece drawn by Junsaku Koizumi, a Japanese painting, eight years ago in two years.

双龍図の下に立つと、不思議と包み込まれるような気分になる。
今回は、いつもと違い教室の皆さんと一緒だったので、皆さんの喜ぶ顔、穏やかな顔を見ながら私も笑顔連鎖で和やかな時間を過ごさせていただいた。

Standing under the Ssangyong map makes me feel like I'm surrounded by mystery. This time, unlike usual, I was with everyone in the classroom, so while looking at everyone's happy faces and calm faces, I also enjoyed a walk in Kyoto with a chain of smiles.
